April 2026 Car Launches: Five New Models Across Segments and Budgets

April 2026 is shaping up to be one of the more eventful months for the Indian automotive calendar. From Volkswagen's first significant update to the Taigun in five years to the arrival of an all-electric Mercedes-Benz sedan, the month brings a well-rounded mix of facelifts, new flagships, and electric vehicles across a wide range of budgets, making it a month that almost every kind of car buyer has reason to watch closely.

  • April 2026 brings five significant car launches in India, spanning a facelift, an all-electric luxury sedan, a diesel flagship SUV, and two new electric offerings.

Following a busy March that saw the Skoda Kushaq facelift, the Renault Duster, and several other significant launches, April 2026 is set to maintain that momentum. Five notable cars are expected to step into the Indian market this month, spanning facelifts, flagship SUVs, and electric vehicles across a broad spread of price points.

Volkswagen Taigun Facelift Debuts on April 09, with a New Gearbox and Revised Styling

What Is New Under the Bonnet

The Volkswagen Taigun facelift marks the SUV's first major revision since 2021 and follows the recently updated Skoda Kushaq on the same MQB-A0-IN platform. The most significant mechanical change is a new eight-speed torque converter automatic gearbox paired with the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, while other powertrain options remain unchanged.

Design and Cabin Updates to Expect

On the outside, expect Tiguan-like connected LED headlights, an illuminated VW logo, and sleeker LED taillights. Inside, a larger 10.25-inch driver's display is anticipated, along with a panoramic sunroof expected to arrive at a later stage.

Whether the Kushaq's segment-only rear massaging seats will make it to the Taigun remains to be seen. Prices are estimated between Rs 12 lakh and Rs 21 lakh.

Mercedes-Benz CLA Arrival Expected on April 24 as India's Most Awaited Entry-Level Luxury EV

Platform, Range, and Variants

Built on Mercedes-Benz's new MMA platform, the all-electric CLA replaces the A-Class sedan as well as the EQA and EQB electric SUVs in India. It will be offered in CLA 200 and CLA 250+ variants, the latter packing an 85 kWh battery and a WLTP-claimed range of up to 792 km.

Styling, Features, and Expected Price

The exterior comes with an AMG Line styling package as standard, star-shaped LED lights on a blanked-off grille, 18-inch rims, and connected taillights featuring a mix of U- and star-shaped illuminated segments.

A drag coefficient of 0.21Cd keeps things aerodynamically efficient. Inside, a dual-screen layout with a 14-inch infotainment running MB.OS, a glass roof, a 101-litre frunk, and front seats with ventilation, heating, and massage functions round out the package. Prices are expected between Rs 55 lakh and Rs 59 lakh.

MG Majestor Steps Up as the Brand's New Diesel Flagship

Engine, Drivetrain, and Trims

The MG Majestor succeeds the Gloster as MG's flagship petrol-free offering, rivalling not just the Toyota Fortuner but also the Skoda Kodiaq and Volkswagen Tayron. The 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel produces 215 hp and 478 Nm, available with both rear-wheel and four-wheel drive.

Two trims, Sharp and Savvy, will be on offer, with the top variant giving buyers a choice between six and seven seats.

Design, Interior, and Booking Status

Its boxy silhouette is complemented by a large grille, vertically stacked LED headlights, 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, and flared wheel arches with black cladding. At the rear, connected LED tail-lights and twin exhaust outlets give it a purposeful stance.

Inside, the Majestor features a soft-touch dashboard, dual 12.3-inch displays, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, and an ADAS suite.

Pre-bookings are already open across four colour options, with deliveries scheduled for May. Prices are estimated between Rs 40 lakh and Rs 45 lakh.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella Set to Announce Prices, BaaS Programme Also Expected

Battery Options and Range

Toyota's first all-electric India offering, the Urban Cruiser Ebella, is expected to receive its price announcement this month. Three trims, E1, E2, and E3, will be available with 49kWh and 61 kWh battery options, the larger of which claims a range of up to 543 km. Toyota may also introduce a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) programme alongside the launch.

How It Differs from the e Vitara

While it shares its underpinnings with the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, it carries a distinct front end with sleeker headlights and a revised bumper. Equipment includes dual digital displays, a fixed single-pane glass roof, a 360-degree camera, Level-2 ADAS, a powered driver's seat, and ventilated front seats. Prices are estimated between Rs 16 lakh and Rs 19.50 lakh.

Nissan Tekton Gears Up for Its India Unveil

What We Know So Far

Nissan is expected to unveil the Tekton SUV this month. A close cousin of the Renault Duster, the Tekton carries its own styling via connected DRLs, full-width tail-lamps, and multi-spoke alloys. Prices are estimated to range from Rs 11 lakh to Rs 18 lakh, placing it in one of India's most fiercely competitive segments.
