The 2026 Hyundai Exter facelift has officially launched in India at Rs 5,79,900 (ex-showroom), with the HX6 mid-spec variant now reaching dealerships for walk-in inspection.
The updated micro-SUV arrives with a refreshed exterior, a new dual-tone Navy and Grey cabin theme, six standard airbags and a factory-fitted dashcam across all trims.
Nearly three years since its debut, the Hyundai Exter has received a well-timed refresh. Priced from Rs 5.79 lakh ex-showroom, the range extends to Rs 9.42 lakh for the top-spec HX10 AMT.
Units have since begun reaching dealerships across the country, and it is the HX6 mid variant that is attracting the most footfall, sitting at the sweet spot between affordability and a genuinely usable features list.
Familiar Proportions, Noticeably Sharpened Styling
The facelifted Exter retains its familiar boxy silhouette, but Hyundai has made targeted changes to freshen its appearance. The Exter lettering now sits on a connected gloss black panel between the DRL clusters, and both the front and rear bumpers have been reworked, with a newly designed silver skid plate at the front adding a rugged edge.
The wheel arches have been beefed up to give the profile a little more muscle, and the 15-inch diamond-cut dual-tone alloy wheels are of a newly designed pattern. At the rear, a wing-type spoiler, a revised C-pillar garnish and an updated tailgate round off a tidier overall package.
Hyundai continues to position the Exter as the tallest SUV in its segment and the one with the longest wheelbase, with dimensions of 3,830mm in length, 1,723mm in width and 1,643mm in height with roof rails, on a 2,450mm wheelbase.
A More Premium Cabin Anchored by a Fresh Colour Scheme
The interior receives a new Navy and Grey dual-tone theme, along with a 3D carbon-pattern dashboard finish, a flat-bottom steering wheel and revised seat upholstery. A folding driver armrest and a height-adjustable driver's seat are now standard across all variants, as are adjustable rear headrests.
Notably, metal pedals are fitted exclusively on the top-spec HX10 variant and are not part of the broader range. Mid and top trims gain wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay through an 8-inch touchscreen, while rear passengers now benefit from a USB Type-C charging port, a feature absent on the pre-facelift model.
Seven Trims, with the HX6 Offering a Practical Middle Ground
The 2026 Exter is offered across seven trims: HX2, HX3, HX4, HX4+, HX6, HX8 and HX10. The HX6 sits below the top two variants and offers buyers a refined, well-equipped experience without stretching to the very top of the range.
Powertrain and Safety Credentials Shared Across the Range
The Exter facelift continues with its 1.2-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, producing 82 hp and 113.8 Nm, paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT.
The CNG option, producing 69 hp and 95 Nm, is offered exclusively with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The dual-cylinder CNG setup helps retain more usable luggage space than a conventional single-cylinder arrangement would, though buyers should note that CNG variants offer 225 litres of boot space compared to 391 litres on petrol variants.
Safety-wise, six airbags and a factory-fitted dashcam are standard across all variants, and Hyundai claims the car carries more than 45 safety features in total, with 30 of those standardised across the entire lineup.
Bookings Open at Dealerships and Online
Bookings are currently underway for a token amount of Rs 11,000, available through any Hyundai dealership or via the brand's official website. Since its debut, the Exter has crossed two lakh cumulative sales in India, and the refreshed model arrives with considerable momentum behind it.
