Maruti Suzuki has launched the 2025 Grand Vitara CNG in India, bringing a factory-fitted CNG option to the popular SUV lineup. It arrives in two mid-level trims, providing an eco-friendlier choice for buyers who prefer cleaner fuel without major sacrifices in kit or comfort.
Price and Variants
The CNG variants are based on the Delta and Zeta trims. The Delta CNG is priced at ₹13.48 lakh, while the Zeta CNG costs ₹15.62 lakh (all ex-showroom, pan-India). Each costs ₹95,000 more than its petrol-manual counterpart. This small premium buys the in-built S-CNG kit and related hardware.
Engine and Performance
Under the hood is Maruti’s 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine adapted for CNG. In CNG form, it delivers 88 PS and 121.5 Nm, down from 103 PS and 137 Nm in petrol guise, paired only with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Front-wheel drive is standard; AWD and automatic remain exclusive to petrol variants. The claimed mileage is 26.6 km/kg, making it a leading CNG offering in its segment.
Features and Safety
The Grand Vitara CNG matches the standard Delta and Zeta feature lists. Highlights include a 9-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 7-inch digital driver display, ventilated front seats, wireless phone charger, auto AC with rear vents, cruise control, and electrically adjustable, auto-fold ORVMs.
Safety kit comprises six airbags, rear parking camera with sensors, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), hill hold assist, ISOFIX anchors, and an auto-dimming IRVM. However, features like a panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, powered driver’s seat, and heads-up display remain reserved for higher petrol-only variants.
Rivals and Positioning
With this launch, the Grand Vitara CNG is one of the few compact SUVs in India offering factory-fitted CNG. Its main rivals—Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Toyota Hyryder, Honda Elevate, Volkswagen Taigun, and Skoda Kushaq—do not offer CNG factory options. This move may attract buyers seeking lower running costs in city and intercity use without shifting to a smaller hatchback.
Overall, the 2025 Maruti Grand Vitara CNG delivers a balanced package: factory-fitted CNG for lower fuel bills, a familiar 1.5L engine with manual gearbox, essential comfort and safety features, and a minor price premium over petrol trims. For buyers prioritising efficiency and proven Maruti reliability in the compact SUV space, this variant adds a compelling option.
