The 2024 Maruti Dzire, set to hit the Indian market in November, promises to bring a host of new features and a more refined look to the subcompact sedan segment. Following the launch of the new Maruti Swift in May 2024, this redesigned Dzire aims to up the competition, particularly with its long-time rival, the Tata Tigor. Here’s a breakdown of the seven key features the new-generation Dzire could offer over the Tigor, making it a strong contender in the segment.
1. All-LED Lighting
The current Dzire already offers LED projector headlights, and the 2024 model is expected to upgrade this with all-LED lighting, including fog lights. Maruti is likely to carry forward LED treatment to give the Dzire a sharper, modern look. By comparison, the Tata Tigor features halogen projectors and fog lights, putting the Dzire a step ahead in premium lighting.
2. Bigger Touchscreen System
In the era of infotainment, the new Dzire is expected to come equipped with a larger 9-inch touchscreen, supporting wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, similar to Maruti’s other offerings like the Swift, Grand Vitara, and Jimny. In contrast, the Tata Tigor comes with a 7-inch screen that only offers wired connectivity, giving the Dzire an edge in terms of in-car tech.
3. Sunroof
The 2024 Dzire might also come with a single-pane sunroof, a highly desirable feature for Indian car buyers and one rarely seen in the subcompact sedan segment. If included, the Dzire would become the first sedan in its class to offer a sunroof, adding a touch of luxury over the Tigor, which currently doesn’t offer this feature.
4. Wireless Smartphone Charger
A wireless charger in the Dzire would be another standout feature, giving it a convenience factor over the Tigor. Eliminating cables in the center console, this feature would make charging more accessible and the cabin layout more streamlined.
5. Heads-up Display (HUD)
Maruti is expected to introduce a heads-up display (HUD) in the 2024 Dzire, a feature previously seen in models like the Baleno and Grand Vitara. This would allow drivers to keep key information such as speed and RPM in their line of sight, making it a valuable addition for safety and convenience in city driving.
6. 360-Degree Camera
The 2024 Dzire could also offer a 360-degree camera, enhancing its practicality in tight city spaces. Most Maruti models equipped with a 9-inch screen have this feature, making it likely for the Dzire as well. A 360-degree camera would be a segment-first feature, providing an advantage over the Tigor, which lacks this offering.
7. Six Airbags as Standard
Safety has become a priority for buyers, and Maruti is expected to raise the bar by making six airbags standard in the 2024 Dzire. This move would give it a strong advantage over the Tigor, which currently offers only two airbags as standard.
Expected Pricing and Rivals
The 2024 Maruti Dzire is anticipated to be priced starting from around Rs 6.70 lakh (ex-showroom), placing it in direct competition with the Tata Tigor, priced between Rs 6 lakh and Rs 9.40 lakh. The Dzire will also go up against other popular subcompact sedans like the Honda Amaze and Hyundai Aura. With these expected features, Maruti aims to position the Dzire as a high-tech, premium offering in the subcompact sedan category, appealing to buyers looking for both style and substance.
