To apply for a registration certificate, here are the steps you need to take:
Visit the RTO
You can drive your car to the RTO (Regional Transport Office) with the necessary documents. To submit these documents, speak to someone behind the counter. These are the list of information required in your documents:
- A duly filled Form 20.
- A copy of the car invoice.
- Two chassis imprint copies.
- The document of sale.
- Form 22, duly filled.
- A Copy of your vehicle insurance.
- A duly filled Form 34. It should be signed by the financier and the owner of the vehicle.
- A copy of your address proof.
- A copy of your ID proof (Driving license, Aadhaar card, passport etc.).
- A few passport-size photographs.
After you have submitted the documents, you also need to pay a fee. For four-wheelers (like car and van) you must pay 600 INR. For two-wheelers, the fee is 300 INR. Once you have paid, wait for the RTO to process your documents. They will get back to you soon.
Getting Car Registration And Owner Details Online
First, you must visit the official VAHAN website. This way, you can check the name of the car owner.
Look for the navigation menu at the top of the screen. Next, click the option "Know Your Car Details".
You must enter your registered vehicle number when the new page comes up.
Complete the captcha code (human verification code) and click on the option "Search Car".
Now you can note down the car owner's name and other car details.
