Xiaomi is one of the top smartphone brands, both in India as well as the world. The brand is known for its high quality and specification rich phones at unbeatable prices. While the tech giant has laid its hands on a number of technologies; viz-a-viz smart brushes to air purifiers and smart bags, the smartphone manufacturer is now planning to disrupt the EV market with its new offering known as SU7 electric.
Xiaomi unveiled its world class and premium electric vehicle at the Mobile World Congress - MWC 2024, held in Barcelona, a city in Spain, between 26 Feb 2024 to 29 Feb 2024. The Xiaomi booth showcased the giant’s first electric vehicle promising an exceptional range of 1200+ km on a single charge, which is raising the bar when it comes to the industry standards. The Sedan has a sleek look, is rigid and spacious, along with minimalist interiors giving it a premium feel, and bypassing the stereotypes of a first generation product.
According to media reports, Group President Weibing Lu says that the car, with its premium pricing and features, is targeting the 20 million user segment. This marks Xiaomi's another step in the direction of its own ecosystem of devices.
The high-performance model boasts extremely fast acceleration of just 2.78 seconds from zero to a hundred kilometers per hour , a top speed over 260 km/h, and a range exceeding 1,200 km. Xiaomi SU7 boasts a powerful E-motor called HyperEngine, advanced CTB Integrated Battery Technology, and a sleek body structure crafted from Xiaomi Hyper Die-Casting materials. All the core technology is developed in-house, allowing them for easier and deeper integration and customisation. The SU7 aims to compete with premium brands like Porsche, through advanced features like autonomous driving. Its interactive cabin integrates Xiaomi's smartphone ecosystem. Xiaomi plans gradual overseas expansion for the SU7. The company ultimately aims to become a top global automaker.
