Volkswagen has introduced a six-speed manual transmission unit for the 1.5 TSI Virtus which is priced at Rs.
16.89 lakh along with a new GT Plus variant for the Taigun with both manual and DSG gearbox priced at Rs. 17.79 lakh and 16.69 lakh respectively. The Volkswagen Virtus GT Plus MT uses the same 1.5-litre, turbo-petrol engine that produces 149 bhp of power and 250 Nm of peak torque, and this engine now comes mated to a six-speed manual. The car also gets the GT treatment, including blacked-out alloys and GT badging on the exterior and interiors.
The Volkswagen Taigun is now offered in two new variants: GT DSG and GT Plus MT. Under the hood is a 1.5-litre petrol engine that comes mated with a six-speed manual or a seven-speed DSG that belts out 149 bhp of power at 5000-6000 rpm and 250 Nm of peak torque at 1500- 3500 rpm. The Taigun comes shod with 17-inch wheels with disc brakes up front and a drum unit at the rear. Suspension duties are handled by a Mc-Pherson suspension unit and stabiliser bar for the front section and a twist-beam axle unit for the rear.
The car is 4,221 mm long, 1,760 mm wide, 1,612 mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,651 mm and a ground clearance of 188 mm. It has a boot capacity of 385 litres and can be expanded up to 1,405 litres, and it tips the scales at 1,700 kg. The Taigun has a fuel tank capacity of 50 litres and the company claims a fuel efficiency of 18.61 kmpl for the manual transmission and 19.01 kmpl for the DSG unit.
The company has also launched the GT Edge Limited Collection which can be had in new colour shades: Deep Black Pearl or Carbon Steel Grey matte finish. We can expect the deliveries to begin by next month.
