Toyota has filed a trademark for the name “Urban Cruiser Taisor”, here are all the details
The “Urban Cruiser Taisor” name has been trademarked by Toyota, which hints that the manufacturer may launch a sub-four-metre SUV. And this is likely to be the rebadged Maruti Suzuki Fronx. The company does not have a product under the Rs. 10 lakh mark in the market and with the Taisor, it is likely to enter that space once again.
The company is likely to tweak some external components to change the look of the car, this will include reprofiled bumpers, redesigned headlamp unit, tweaked bonet and different wheels. The cabin layout is expected to remain the same, albeit the upholstery and colour shades.
The vehicle is expected to offer the same kit including the 9-inch touchscreen unit, cruise control, heads-up display, auto-temperature control, a 360-degree camera, ESP, and six airbags among others.
The Maruti Suzuki Fronx uses two engines - a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 88 bhp of power and 113 Nm of peak torque and a 1.0-litre Boosterjet engine that makes 98 bhp of power and 148 Nm of peak torque. Transmission unit includes a five-speed manual for both the engines. We can expect the same units for the Urban Cruiser Taisor.
The Urban Cruiser Taisor upon launch will rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Citroen C3, Tata Nexon, Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite to name a few.
