Take A Look At The Tata Altroz Racer Entry Level R1 Variant In 7 Images

Take A Look At The Tata Altroz Racer Entry-level R1 Variant In 7 Images

The Tata Altroz Racer is now on sale in India as a direct competitor to the Hyundai i20 N Line. This sportier version of the Altroz comes with a more powerful 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, new styling elements, and additional features. Tata offers the Altroz Racer in three variants: R1, R2, and R3. Here’s an overview of the entry-level R1 variant.

1. Front

The entry-level R1 variant of the Altroz Racer looks identical to its higher-spec counterparts. It features automatic projector headlights, front fog lamps, and LED DRLs. The only noticeable difference is the absence of a front-grille mounted camera for the 360-degree camera setup, which is available in higher variants.

2. Side

From the side, the R1 variant showcases blacked-out pillars and window lines, 16-inch blacked-out alloy wheels, and blacked-out ORVMs (outside rear view mirrors), similar to the R2 and R3 variants. A ‘Racer’ badge on the front fenders distinguishes it from the regular Altroz. It also sports a blacked-out hood and dual white stripes running from the hood to the end of the roof.

3. Rear

The Altroz Racer R1 comes with a rear defogger, rear wiper with washer, and an extended roof spoiler specific to the ‘Racer’ version. It also features a dual-tip exhaust with a sportier note compared to the regular Altroz and an ‘i-Turbo+’ badge on the tailgate, indicating its more powerful engine.

4. Interior

The cabin of the R1 variant is almost identical to its higher-spec counterparts. It includes a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic AC with rear vents, cruise control, an 8-speaker sound system, and orange ambient lighting on the dashboard. The safety kit includes six airbags, electronic stability control, and ABS with EBD. However, it lacks wireless phone charging, an air purifier, a sunroof, a 360-degree camera with a blind view monitor, and a 7-inch fully digital driver’s display.

5. Seats and Comfort

Even though it’s an entry-level trim, the Altroz Racer R1 comes with leatherette seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a front sliding armrest. It does not feature ventilated front seats, which are reserved for the top-spec R3 variant.

6. Powertrain

The Tata Altroz Racer is powered by a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine from the Tata Nexon, delivering 120 PS and 170 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. Tata may introduce an automatic transmission option for the Altroz Racer in the future.

7. Price

The entry-level R1 variant of the Altroz Racer is priced at Rs 10.49 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom pan India). It directly rivals the N6 variant of the Hyundai i20 N Line, offering a compelling mix of features and performance for the price.

The Tata Altroz Racer R1 variant offers a sporty design, a powerful engine, and a host of features, making it a strong contender in the entry-level micro-SUV segment. Whether you prioritize style, performance, or safety, the Altroz Racer has a lot to offer.
