Skoda Kylaq Reaches India's 50,000 Unit Production Mark

With the Kylaq compact SUV reaching 50,000 units produced at its Chakan plant in Maharashtra, Skoda Auto India has reached an important manufacturing milestone. The Kylaq, which debuted as the company's first sub-4-meter SUV for India, has swiftly become well-known due to its competitive pricing, contemporary style, and balanced performance. The milestone highlights Skoda's improved production capacity, rising emphasis on localization, and solidifying its position in India's fiercely competitive small SUV market.

  • Within a year of its introduction, Skoda's small SUV Kylaq has surpassed the 50,000-unit production milestone in India, demonstrating robust consumer demand and local manufacturing expansion.

  • Skoda Auto India's overall expansion has been fueled by the SUV's success, which has also led to higher localization, expanded production capacity, and recent upgrades to the Kylaq lineup.

The company's first sub-4-meter SUV, the Skoda Kylaq, was created with Indian consumers in mind and has now achieved a significant production milestone in the nation.

Just over a year after it was introduced in late 2024, the small SUV has now produced more than 50,000 units at Skoda Auto Volkswagen India's Chakan factory in Maharashtra.

This accomplishment is a result of the Kylaq's high demand from consumers in the very competitive, expanding compact SUV market.

According to Skoda, the Kylaq has been crucial in boosting the brand's overall success, making a substantial contribution to a 36% year-over-year increase in 2025.

Increasing Capacity and Local Manufacturing

Skoda expanded its Chakan plant's manufacturing capacity by 30% to meet the increasing demand, enabling the firm to produce more units without sacrificing quality. In order to improve localization, which is essential for cost effectiveness and adaptability to market developments, the company has also fortified its alliances with domestic suppliers of parts.

The industrial sector in India is also viewed as benefiting from the Kylaq's success. The SUV, which has a large percentage of locally sourced parts, is a prime example of how "Made in India" automobiles can compete fiercely both at home and possibly abroad.

What Sets the Kylaq Apart

The 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine that powers the Skoda Kylaq produces excellent performance numbers and provides good fuel efficiency and drivability for both city and highway settings. 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic gearboxes are available to buyers.

Many SUV customers now favour the Kylaq due to its contemporary style, cozy cabin, and extensive safety features.

Skoda's small SUV is well-positioned to sustain its momentum in 2026, given the market's continuing demand and recent pricing changes that saw some variants increase by up to ₹33,000.
