Save Time And Money With These Simple E Challan Hacks

How to save time and money, with these simple E-Challan hacks

One of the most prevalent reasons for getting an e-challan in India is driving without a legal licence or not having the necessary papers, such as car insurance or PUC. Soon to be creating a world record, Indian traffic authorities issued over 1.98 crore challans worth INR 1,898.73 crore in the 2021 calendar year.

Daily, India has the highest number of road fatalities in the world due to not wearing a seatbelt, driving carelessly, and exceeding the speed limit. More than 2 lakh cases of reckless driving and road rage were recorded in 2021, leading to more e-challans being issued.

Whether it's jumping traffic signals or causing traffic congestion, violating traffic regulations on the road is a typical event these days. However, lately, even a minor red light violation can result in a challan of INR.1,000/-. Driving under the influence of alcohol can burn a hole in your pocket, resulting in a challan of INR 10,000 and a reasonable amount of time in prison.

How can I pay my Challan?

Within minutes you can now pay your e-Challan via the Parivahan website.

  • Step 1: Go to the official website and type the Challan, Driving Licence, or vehicle number found on the physical document.
  • Step 2: Complete the captcha and select "Get Details" from the menu.
  • Step 3: A comprehensive list of all challans issued in the user name will be shown.
  • Step 4: Select a suitable method, such as online banking, credit or debit cards, or digital wallets.
  • Step 5: The user will get a confirmation ID after the payment is finished.

Offline: You can also pay the e-challan offline. To make a payment against an e-challan number, go to the local police station, where they can provide you with unpaid challans. Make the payment, and remember to save the receipt.

Best practices for avoiding e-Challans

While India is hitting charts in getting challaned, here are some important reminders to avoid receiving any e-Challan.

Always follow all traffic rules and regulations. Do not use a cell phone while driving (One of the biggest reasons for e-challans) Do not drink and drive. Ensure that you are wearing seat belts at all times. Stay within the speed limits to avoid being challaned. Carry relevant documents in the vehicle, including the vehicle's registration certificate (RC), car insurance document, and PCU.
