The revised Kiger facelift was launched by Renault India this week and its prices began at Rs. 6.29 lakh (ex-showroom). The sub-compact SUV maintains the same power choices as it had received in the past but receives major styling and feature changes.
The Kiger facelift has 11 colour options available in four trims Authentic, Evolution, Techno, and Emotion.
Engine and Powertrain
At the entry-level Authentic, it is only offered with the 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, which is matched to a five-speed manual transmission. It generates 71bhp and 96Nm of torque and thus a viable alternative to city travel and short highway trips.
Exterior Highlights
On the outside, the Kiger Authentic trim balances simplicity with a sporty edge. It has LED DRLs, signature C-shaped smoked effect LED tail-lamps, Mystery Black ORVMs with inbuilt turn indicators, new spoiler, Satin Silver roof rails and redesigned skid plates in black. New covers also give the SUV 16-inch steel wheel covers, which make it look taller.
Interior and Comfort Features
Enter, and the Kiger remains comfortable with its price. It receives new black material upholstery, 60:40 split-folding rear seats that have adjustable headrests and a three-spoke steering wheel.
Extravagant autonomies consist of front and rear power windows, remote keyless entry and a rear centre armrest with cupholders unusual in an entry-level SUV.
Safety Package
Renault has made sure that safety features are fitted even in the entry-level version. The standard features 6 airbags, ABS and EBD, brake assist, hill start assist, ESP, traction control, reverse parking sensors and tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).
The Authentic version of the facelifted Renault Kiger might be the lowest-priced in the range, though it does not feel like it. Its competitive price range and balanced equipment portfolio reinforce the role of Renault in the constantly expanding sub-compact SUV market.
