Next-Gen Volkswagen T-Roc Debuts with Hybrid Engines

Volkswagen has finally taken the wraps off the second-generation T-Roc, one of its most successful global SUVs with over two million units sold. The new T-Roc comes bigger, sharper, and smarter, offering hybrid-only powertrains for the first time. Alongside its coupe-inspired design and a cabin packed with technology, the SUV aims to combine style, efficiency, and performance. With pre-bookings already open in Germany, deliveries are set to kick off in November 2025.

T-Roc is the second generation of Volkswagen and officially launched a full redesign of one of the most successful SUVs of the brand in the global market. The T-Roc has already sold over two million units in the world since its release. The new-gen model is now there to confine its presence in the compact SUV segment.

A Sharper, Sportier Design

The new T-Roc is 12cm longer than its predecessor; this not only enhances road presence but also increases interior space. Its styling is commendably more dynamic, and its rear profile is given a sporty quality as a couple.

Front LED headlamps are standard and optional IQ.LIGHT matrix units are available in higher trims. Running over the fascia is a light strip that links the headlamps to an illuminated VW logo.

There is a complete-width LED bar with a glowing emblem at the back, giving a modern appearance.

Tech-Focused Interior

Enter and the T-Roc tips toward the new-age design philosophy of Volkswagen. Fabric wraps around the dashboard to give it a lounge-like appearance and it is complemented by ambient lighting.

Its highlight is a 13-inch infotainment display, which is the command centre of all things, be it navigation or entertainment. Among others, it has Travel Assist, driving experience control, and a windscreen head-up display to offer more comfort.

Hybrid-Only Powertrain Options

Volkswagen is making a huge change by selling the new T-Roc only with hybrid petrol. When it launches, buyers will have a choice of two 1.5-litre eTSI mild-hybrid units, each with 116bhp or 150bhp.

Additional power will arrive, more will be full-hybrids, there will also be 2.0-litre eTSI with AWD and the performance-oriented T-Roc R will be part of the range in the future.

Launch Timeline

In Germany, the new T-Roc is already pre-booked, will be delivered in November 2025. Their wider rollout will occur at the end of 2025 or early 2026, offering a global launch of the improved compact SUV by Volkswagen.
