After the August headline launches from Renault, Volvo, and Mercedes, September is seeing the arrival of a new wave of SUVs—both electric and petrol-hybrid. Among the highlights are Maruti Suzuki’s first new Arena model in almost a year and three major EV debuts.
Maruti Suzuki Arena SUV – September 3
Maruti will introduce the all-new 5-seat midsize SUV, currently known as Y17; the name Victoris might be given to it. This Grand Vitara-based platform is anticipated as a budget-friendly SUV and will challenge the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. It is likely to come with a 1.5-litre mild-hybrid, a 116hp strong-hybrid, and a CNG variant. The styling will be similar to the e-Vitara, while the cabin will have a new layout with contemporary equipment.
Citroen Basalt X – September 5
The Citroen Basalt X will be a new high-end model. It might get exterior changes such as the bronze dashboard accents, black and tan upholstery, and a 360-degree camera, among additional features, but its mechanics will be the same.
However, the improvements should attract buyers who want a more luxurious look and feel.
VinFast VF7 and VF6 – September 6
Vietnamese brand VinFast will finally announce prices for its India-bound EVs, the VF7 and VF6.
The VF7 is a 4.5-metre crossover offered in 204hp FWD and 350hp AWD trims, with ranges of 450km and 431km, respectively. It will feature a 12.9-inch touchscreen, ADAS, ventilated seats, and 7 airbags, with prices expected around ₹30 lakh.
The smaller VF6, measuring 4.23 metres, will get a 59.6kWh battery and a 204hp FWD motor, offering up to 480km of range. Positioned in the midsize EV space, it will rival the Tata Curvv EV and Hyundai Creta EV, with prices likely between ₹20–25 lakh.
Volvo EX30 – Mid-September
The Volvo EX30 represents the initial pure electric vehicle (EV) from Volvo in India. It is equipped with a 69kWh battery and a rear motor delivering 272hp and 343Nm, and it is said to go 480 km of range as per the WLTP standard.
The EX30, which will be in the price range of around ₹50 lakh, will be going head-to-head against the likes of the BMW iX1 and BYD Sealion 7.
September has really managed to combine affordability with luxury, thus making it a great month not only for SUV lovers but also for EV users.
