The Honda Elevate has quickly become a popular choice in the compact SUV segment, and recently, the automaker announced that the model has touched nearly 90,000 sales since its launch in September 2023. This figure marks an impressive milestone for Elevate, which has garnered significant attention in a highly competitive market.
Out of the 90,000 units, around 50,000 units have been sold within India, with the remainder coming from exports. The Honda Elevate gained much significance as it became the first made-in-India model exported to Japan, where it is sold as the Honda WR-V. This further emphasizes Elevate’s international appeal and success.
Honda Elevate Specifications
Despite entering the compact SUV market later than its rivals, such as the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, the Honda Elevate has managed to carve out a unique place for itself. The Elevate is praised for its spacious cabin, imposing design, and feature-packed offering. However, it does fall short in some aspects compared to segment leaders.
The Elevate is powered by a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, which produces adequate power for daily driving needs. Buyers can choose between a 6-speed manual gearbox and a CVT automatic transmission, offering versatility in driving preferences.
While the Elevate's feature list is competitive, it doesn't quite match up to the high-tech offerings of its rivals, such as those in the Hyundai Creta or Kia Seltos range. Nevertheless, it remains a popular option thanks to its solid build, generous cabin space, and reliable performance.
The New-Gen Honda Amaze
In addition to the Elevate’s success, Honda also introduced the third-generation Amaze. The newly launched Amaze sedan draws design inspiration from the Elevate in the front, while the rear echoes elements from the Honda City. Along with the design changes, the new Amaze offers enhanced cabin space and a larger boot capacity, now up to 416 liters, which is a 34-litre increase over its predecessor.
Under the hood, the new Amaze is powered by a 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine, delivering 89 bhp and 110 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a CVT, with fuel efficiency figures of 18.65 kmpl (manual) and 19.46 kmpl (CVT), as certified by ARAI.
Starting at an introductory price of ₹ 8 lakh (ex-showroom), the Honda Amaze is also notable for being the most affordable car in India to come with Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System).
Conclusion
With nearly 90,000 sales of the Honda Elevate in just over a year, the brand has made significant strides in the compact SUV segment. The Elevate has proven to be a popular choice among buyers, thanks to its spacious interior, solid features, and unique export significance. Alongside the Elevate, the launch of the third-generation Amaze adds to Honda's strong presence in the Indian market, offering customers a blend of design, space, and technology.
