MG ZS EV Price Cut Up to Rs 6.14 Lakh Makes EV Affordable

MG cuts ZS EV prices by up to Rs 6.14 lakh and reduces battery subscription costs, making the EV more accessible with its strong 461 km range, rich features, and safety kit, as competition heats up in India’s EV market.

MG Motor has surprised the EV market by reducing prices on all ZS EV variants by up to Rs 6.14 lakh. Instead of the usual trend of price hikes over time, MG is passing savings to buyers. This move aims to boost appeal amid growing rivals and make electric driving more reachable for Indian customers.

Updated Price List
MG now prices the ZS EV variants (ex-showroom, pan-India) as follows:

  • Executive: Rs 17.99 lakh (old: Rs 18.98 lakh) – down Rs 99,000

  • Excite Pro: Rs 18.50 lakh (old: Rs 20.48 lakh) – down Rs 1.98 lakh

  • Exclusive Plus: Rs 19.50 lakh (old: Rs 25.15 lakh) – down Rs 5.65 lakh

  • Exclusive Plus Dual Tone: Rs 19.50 lakh (old: Rs 25.35 lakh) – down Rs 4.15 lakh

  • Exclusive Plus 100-Year Green Edition: Rs 19.50 lakh (old: Rs 25.35 lakh) – down Rs 4.15 lakh

  • Essence: Rs 20.50 lakh (old: Rs 26.44 lakh) – down Rs 5.94 lakh

  • Essence Dual Tone: Rs 20.50 lakh (old: Rs 26.64 lakh) – down Rs 6.14 lakh

Notably, dual-tone options now match the standard versions in price. The base Executive gets almost a lakh off, while the top-spec Essence Dual Tone sees the biggest cut of Rs 6.14 lakh.

Battery Subscription Plan Revision

MG also trims prices for buyers choosing the battery rental scheme, with per-km battery cost unchanged at Rs 4.5 per km:

  • Executive: Rs 13.00 lakh + Rs 4.5/km (old: Rs 13.99 lakh) – down Rs 99,000.

  • Excite Pro: Rs 13.51 lakh + Rs 4.5/km (old: Rs 14.99 lakh) – down Rs 1.48 lakh.

  • Exclusive Plus: Rs 14.51 lakh + Rs 4.5/km (old: Rs 19.55 lakh) – down Rs 5.04 lakh.

  • Exclusive Plus Dual Tone: Rs 14.51 lakh + Rs 4.5/km (old: Rs 19.75 lakh) – down Rs 5.24 lakh

  • Exclusive Plus 100-Year Green Edition: Rs 14.51 lakh + Rs 4.5/km (old: Rs 19.75 lakh) – down Rs 5.24 lakh

  • Essence: Rs 15.51 lakh + Rs 4.5/km (old: Rs 20.56 lakh) – down Rs 5.05 lakh

  • Essence Dual Tone: Rs 15.51 lakh + Rs 4.5/km (old: Rs 20.76 lakh) – down Rs 5.25 lakh

This reduction makes the battery rental option notably cheaper, lowering the entry barrier for buyers who prefer lower upfront costs.

Features & Safety

The ZS EV remains well-equipped:

  • 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment and 7-inch digital driver display

  • 6-way powered driver seat, auto AC with rear vents, panoramic sunroof

  • Wireless phone charger, 6-speaker audio

  • Safety: Six airbags, ESC, 360° camera, electronic parking brake, ISOFIX, hill hold/descent controls, heated ORVMs, TPMS

  • ADAS suite: Lane keep assist, departure warning, adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking

These offerings stay unchanged, ensuring buyers still get a rich feature set alongside the price benefit.

Powertrain & Range

Under the hood, the MG ZS EV packs:

  • 50.3 kWh battery

  • Single front-mounted electric motor delivering 177 PS and 280 Nm torque

  • Claimed range of 461 km (WLTP cycle)

  • Front-wheel drive drivetrain

The healthy range and decent power figures remain core strengths, especially with the new price making the cost-per-kilometer more attractive.

Rivals & Market Context

Competition includes Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Curvv EV, Mahindra BE 6, and the upcoming Maruti e Vitara. With MG’s price cuts, the ZS EV now competes more aggressively on price versus features and range. Buyers weighing options can consider the revised ZS EV for its established network, equipment level, and proven performance.

The bottom line is MG’s decision to cut prices by up to Rs 6.14 lakh (and battery plan by up to Rs 5.25 lakh) is a bold step to boost EV adoption. The ZS EV’s 461 km range, strong feature list, and safety kit, now at lower cost, may sway many buyers. Would you choose the revamped ZS EV over its rivals?
