Mahindra Scorpio N Z4 Automatic Returns at Rs 17.39 Lakh

Mahindra has brought back the automatic gearbox in the Scorpio N Z4 trim at a lower price, making it easier for buyers to opt for automatic. The model keeps its key features while offering both petrol and diesel choices.

Mahindra has quietly reintroduced the Scorpio N Z4 Automatic, making this transmission option more accessible than before. Initially offered at launch in 2022, the automatic gearbox on the Z4 trim was later discontinued and was only available on higher variants.

Now, with prices starting at Rs 17.39 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India) for petrol and Rs 17.86 lakh for diesel, buyers can enjoy automatic convenience without stretching their budget.

Price Details

The reintroduced Z4 Automatic slots in below earlier automatic offerings, making it up to Rs 1.67 lakh cheaper than the Z8 Select petrol automatic and Rs 1.05 lakh less than the Z6 diesel automatic.

Exact ex-showroom prices are:

  • Z4 Petrol AT: Rs 17.39 lakh

  • Z4 Diesel AT: Rs 17.86 lakh

  • Z6 Diesel AT (for comparison): Rs 18.91 lakh

  • Z8 Select Petrol AT (for comparison): Rs 19.06 lakh

This pricing tweak helps buyers seeking an automatic SUV at a more modest outlay. The savings can be attractive for those moving up from manual variants or comparing rival SUVs.

Key Features & Comfort

The Z4 variant remains a 7-seater with familiar design touches: halogen headlamps, LED indicators and taillamps, plus 17-inch steel wheels with covers. Inside, you get:

  • 8-inch touchscreen infotainment with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

  • Steering-mounted audio and cruise controls

  • Manual AC with rear vents

  • Analogue dials paired with a 4.2-inch digital multi-info display

  • Rear wiper, washer, and demister

Higher trims offer dual-zone auto AC, ventilated seats, a 12-speaker Sony sound system, and sunroof, but the Z4 retains core comforts for family use. The interior layout is user-friendly, with straightforward switches and a clear display.

Safety Equipment

Safety kit on Z4 Automatic includes:

  • Dual front airbags

  • ABS with EBD

  • Electronic Stability Control (ESC)

  • Hill Hold and Hill Descent Control

  • ISOFIX child-seat anchors

  • Rear parking sensors

These features remain unchanged with the reintroduction of the automatic gearbox, ensuring buyers do not lose any safety elements when choosing the Z4 Automatic.

Powertrain & Drivetrain Options

The Scorpio N Z4 Automatic is available with both engine choices:

  • Petrol: 2.0-litre turbo petrol producing 203 PS and 380 Nm, paired with 6-speed automatic.

  • Diesel: 2.2-litre diesel offering up to 175 PS and 400 Nm, also with a 6-speed automatic.

Rear-wheel drive is standard. All-wheel drive is available only on the Z4 E variant in diesel-manual form and is not offered with the automatic. Thus, automatic buyers get rear-wheel drive only, which suits most urban and highway use.

Competitors

In its segment, the Scorpio N competes with:

  • Hyundai Alcazar

  • Tata Safari

  • MG Hector Plus

It also presents a body-on-frame alternative to crossover SUVs like Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, Volkswagen Taigun, and [Kia Seltos(https://parkplus.io/new-cars/kia-car/seltos). The reintroduced Z4 Automatic targets those who want an affordable automatic in a rugged SUV package.

In summary, Mahindra’s move to bring back the Scorpio N Z4 Automatic at Rs 17.39 lakh (petrol) and Rs 17.86 lakh (diesel) makes the automatic transmission more accessible. The brand ensures buyers don't compromise on essentials by retaining the same feature set and safety equipment. With a choice of turbo petrol or diesel engines and a familiar cabin, the reintroduced Z4 Automatic is positioned as a value-driven pick for families and SUV enthusiasts seeking convenience without a steep price jump.
