Maruti Suzuki India is the largest automobile manufacturer in the country, which has recalled 9,125 units of XL6, Ciaz, Ertiga, Brezza, and Grand Vitara to fix the possible defects found in the front row seat belts. These affected models were manufactured between November 2 to 28, 2022.
Maruti Suzuki India said, "It is suspected that there is a possible defect in one of the child parts of shoulder height adjuster assembly of front row seat belts, which in a rare case, may lead to seat belt disassembly.”
“Considering the safety of our customers and out of abundant caution, the company has decided to recall the suspected vehicles for inspection and replacement of the faulty part, free of cost,” the company further added.
The company’s authorised workshops will reach out to the owners of respective models for immediate action. Nonetheless, this is happening for the fourth time since Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. recalled vehicles within the same financial year. Earlier in April, the company recalled 18,731 units of Eeco Van manufactured between July 19, 2021, and October 5, 2021.
Moreover, in august, Maruti Suzuki India recalled 166 units of the Dzire Tour, manufactured between August 6 to 16, due to a possible issue found in the airbag control unit, which in rare cases can lead to malfunctioning during the deployment.
