Maruti Brezza Vs Hyundai Venue A Comparative Review

Maruti Brezza vs Hyundai Venue: A Comparative Review

In the bustling compact SUV market, the Maruti Brezza and Hyundai Venue stand out as compelling choices. The Brezza, with its robust design and reliable performance, competes against the Venue's modern aesthetics and feature-rich interior. Both models offer efficient engines and smart connectivity features, making the decision between the two a matter of personal preference. Whether it's the Brezza's tried-and-true reliability or the Venue's contemporary appeal, buyers can expect a satisfying driving experience from either option.

The compact SUV segment is probably the most active in the Indian automotive industry. Brezza and Venue are two of the most well-known compact SUVs produced in India. There is no disputing that the Brezza vs Venue is the most obvious of battles in the SUV segment.

In June 2022, Hyundai introduced the 2022 Venue, while Maruti Suzuki updated the Vitara Brezza and renamed it the Brezza. Both updates include a significant number of new features and improvements.

So which is the better bargain for you? Let's find out.

Maruti Brezza vs Hyundai Venue: Features Comparison

First, let's talk about the Brezza. Previous owners have complained that the car felt basic and lacked contemporary features. But the new Brezza is loaded with all the bells and whistles you could want.

It even has some segment-first features, like a 360-degree parking camera and a heads-up display. That parking camera is a game-changer when it comes to getting in and out of cramped parking spots. The new Brezza also has auto-dimming IRVM and ambient lights that the Venue doesn't have.

On the other hand, the Venue has some features that set it apart from the Brezza. For example, it has an air purifier, a four-way power-adjustable driver seat, and a rear bench with a two-step recline function.

Plus, the Venue has a new fully-digital instrument cluster, whereas the Brezza has a semi-digital setup. But, let's be honest, these are mostly good-to-have features and you could live without them.

Who's ahead?

Overall, the competition between the Brezza and Venue is quite close. Both cars have a ton of common features, like a sunroof, touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, connected car tech, wireless charging, automatic climate control, and rear AC vents.

Interior: Quality, Space, and Comfort

Let's talk about space first. The Maruti Brezza may be small in size, but it doesn't skimp on space. Even tall adults will have plenty of legroom and headspace in the back seat. The Venue is no slouch in the space department either, but the Brezza takes the cake here.

When it comes to cabin quality and plushness, the Venue shines. Hyundai has always been known for its top-notch fit and finish, and the Venue is no exception. The interior feels super upscale and you'll be impressed with the overall quality.

While Brezza's cabin has improved, it still falls short in some areas. The dual-tone interior finished in chocolate brown and black gives off a luxurious vibe, but the plastic materials used in some areas, like near the A/C ducts, feel cheap and poorly finished.

Maruti Brezza vs Hyundai Venue: Engine and Performance Comparison

Brezza vs Venue: Engine Specification Comparison

When it comes to powertrains, the Koreans know how to spoil you for choice. The Venue offers a total of three engine options, while the Brezza only has one.

However, we do have a small gripe with the Venue's engine and gearbox combinations. For example, there's no option for an automatic transmission with the standard petrol engine or the diesel engine. And if you go for the turbo petrol engine, there's no proper manual transmission option either.

So, while the Venue does offer more engine options, the lack of certain transmission options could be a deal-breaker for some.

Brezza vs Venue: Which is Better in Driving Experience?

Comparing the Brezza petrol with the Venue's turbo petrol, the Brezza is a better city commuter.

While in the Venue you have to be in the turbo range to get the most out of the car, the large displacement petrol engine in the Brezza produces a lot of low-end torque and is very tractable at low to medium speeds. The difference is felt in stop-and-go traffic.

If you're looking for a car that performs well on the highway or for spirited driving, the Brezza is more of a sedate cruiser than a high-performing vehicle. Even if you step on the gas pedal, it takes a while for the Brezza to pick up speed, and it's more noise than actual progress.

On the other hand, the Venue's turbo petrol engine has a meaty mid-range punch. So, if you're someone who enjoys a thrilling driving experience, you're better off going for Venue's turbo petrol engine.

Maruti Brezza vs Hyundai Venue: Price Comparison

Let's first look at the prices of both cars:

*Both cars also get dual-tone exterior colour options on selective variants for some additional cost

Conclusion

So Brezza vs Venue, which is better? Although the Venue has a lower base price than the Brezza, its standard petrol engine is weaker compared to the Brezza's larger petrol engine. However, as you move up to the top-end variants, the Brezza starts to become less of a value-for-money option. The ZXI+ automatic variant of the Brezza is more expensive than both the turbo petrol Venue DCT and the Venue Diesel.

For the additional money, you get more safety features and a more fuel-efficient petrol engine. But if you want more fun and creature comforts, or a diesel-powered car, the Venue would suit you perfectly.
