Mahindra Xuv700s Waiting Period Extends To Two Months Amid High Demand

Mahindra XUV700's Waiting Period Extends to Two Months Amid High Demand

If you're eagerly waiting to get your hands on the Mahindra XUV700, you might have to wait a bit longer than expected. Mahindra's popular SUV has seen an uptick in its waiting period, with some variants now taking over two months for delivery. Despite the company ramping up production to meet the surge in demand, the SUV's top-spec variants, especially the AX7 and AX7 L, are facing significant delays. Here's why the Mahindra XUV700 has everyone waiting in line.

A Rising Demand for the XUV700

The Mahindra XUV700 has quickly become one of the most sought-after SUVs in India. Offering various seating configurations, from five to seven seats, it appeals to a broad audience, including families and adventure seekers alike. Its premium design, coupled with advanced features and robust engine options, makes it a popular choice for those looking for both style and performance.

But with popularity comes high demand. Mahindra has been working hard to increase production, but even that hasn’t been enough to shorten waiting times for certain versions of the vehicle. Currently, the waiting period for the AX7 and AX7 L models has crossed two months, while entry-level models are still manageable with about a one-month wait.

The Variants and Their Waiting Periods

When it comes to the XUV700, not all versions have the same waiting time. The top-of-the-line AX7 and AX7 L variants are in the highest demand, meaning customers who order these models may have to wait for over two months before they can drive their new SUV home. However, for the lower-spec MX, AX3, and AX5 models, the wait is approximately one month, which is relatively short compared to their higher-end counterparts.

Both petrol and diesel versions of the SUV are affected, and the wait times apply to models with both manual and automatic transmission options. One exception to the delay is the six-seater version of the XUV700, which currently doesn’t have a specified wait time.

What Makes the XUV700 So Popular?

So, why is everyone lining up for the XUV700? For one, it’s packed with features that are hard to beat in its segment. From its luxurious interior to its powerful engine options, it ticks all the right boxes for modern car buyers.

The XUV700 comes with two engine options: a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 2.2-litre diesel engine. Both engines are available with a choice of a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. If you’re looking for all-wheel drive (AWD), that’s available as well—but only in the diesel variant.

Inside the cabin, Mahindra hasn’t held back on tech and comfort. The SUV offers a panoramic sunroof, large dual-display screens for infotainment and instrument clusters, and a host of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS). These include features like adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and emergency braking—features typically seen in more expensive vehicles.

The Competition is Heating Up

The Mahindra XUV700 competes in a tough segment, facing rivals such as the Tata Harrier, Tata Safari, MG Hector, MG Hector Plus, and Hyundai Alcazar. However, despite the stiff competition, the XUV700 has managed to stand out. Its unique combination of features, strong performance, and competitive pricing has made it a preferred choice for many buyers.

The SUV is currently priced between ₹13.99 lakh and ₹25.14 lakh (ex-showroom). While the waiting periods may deter some potential buyers, many seem willing to wait for the XUV700, given its value proposition.

Why the Delays?

Despite Mahindra's increasing production, the demand has outpaced supply, especially for the top-end models. The global shortage of semiconductors has also impacted production timelines, as the XUV700, with its tech-heavy features, relies heavily on these chips.

Additionally, the festival season has added to the demand, as many buyers look to make purchases during this period. Dealerships across the country have been flooded with orders, particularly for the top-spec models with all the bells and whistles.

What Can Buyers Do?

For those looking to buy the XUV700, the best advice is to place your order as early as possible, especially if you’re eyeing the AX7 or AX7 L variants. While the one-month wait for entry-level and mid-spec models may be more manageable, customers wanting the top features will need to exercise patience.

It’s also a good idea to stay in touch with your local dealership for any updates on delivery times. Production schedules can sometimes shift, and you may get your vehicle sooner than expected. Alternatively, exploring other trims with shorter waiting periods could be a faster way to get behind the wheel of the XUV700.

Overall, With its powerful performance, feature-packed interiors, and a range of options, it’s no surprise that the Mahindra XUV700 is in high demand. While the longer waiting period may be frustrating for eager buyers, the SUV's appeal seems to justify the wait. For those willing to hang in, the XUV700 offers a premium driving experience that is hard to beat in its segment.

So, is the wait worth it? For many, the answer is a resounding yes. But with the clock ticking, it’s best to get your order in before the wait gets even longer.
