Hyundai Creta Ev And Kia Carens Ev Spotted Testing In India Ahead Of 2025 Launch

Hyundai Creta EV and Kia Carens EV Spotted Testing in India Ahead of 2025 Launch

As electric vehicles (EVs) continue to make their way into global markets, Hyundai and Kia are making strides in the Indian EV space. Fresh spy shots reveal that two highly anticipated EV models, the Hyundai Creta EV and the Kia Carens EV, are being tested together on Indian roads. Despite a slowdown in EV sales globally, these two electric vehicles are set to push forward, bringing new alternatives to consumers seeking greener transportation options.

Hyundai Creta EV

The Hyundai Creta EV, a rival to the Maruti eVX and the upcoming Honda Elevate EV, will be based on the facelifted version of the popular mid-size SUV that launched earlier this year. The spy shots show the Creta EV wearing heavy camouflage, but certain features are still discernible. Unlike its internal combustion engine (ICE) counterpart, the EV will sport several EV-specific changes, including a fresh set of alloy wheels and clear lens LED taillights. Additionally, unique coloured inserts specific to the electric version will further differentiate it from the ICE Creta.

Inside, the Creta EV is expected to undergo several updates. These changes could include a new gear lever for the electric drivetrain, updated upholstery for a more premium feel, and a redesigned centre console. A three-spoke steering wheel is also likely to be a part of the new interior package. Overall, Hyundai aims to offer a refined, eco-friendly alternative to its popular Creta SUV while retaining the features and design elements that make it a favourite among buyers.

Kia Carens EV

The electric version of the Kia Carens MPV is also in the works, with a debut expected in the second half of 2025. The Carens EV, like the Creta EV, was heavily camouflaged in the spy shots. However, it's clear that Kia has introduced several new design elements for this electric MPV. Dual-tone aero-optimised alloy wheels are one of the key visual changes, designed to improve aerodynamic efficiency.

Previous spy images have revealed that the Carens EV will feature a new fascia, complete with an LED light bar, redesigned front and rear bumpers, and refreshed LED taillights. While the overall body structure remains similar to the ICE version, these modifications give the Carens EV a more futuristic and dynamic appearance.

Powertrain and Range

Both the Hyundai Creta EV and the Kia Carens EV are expected to be powered by a 55-60kWh battery pack, providing a claimed range of up to 500km on a single full charge. This powertrain will likely be paired with a single electric motor, offering a blend of efficiency and performance that meets the demands of Indian consumers. With this range, these EVs will compete directly with other electric vehicles in their segments, making long-distance travel more feasible for EV owners.

Launch Timeline and Market Expectations

Hyundai plans to launch the Creta EV early next year, with a grand debut likely at the 2025 Auto Expo, also known as the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo. The Kia Carens EV will follow suit later in the year, solidifying both brands' positions in the growing Indian EV market.

Both models are expected to draw significant attention, particularly as they bring new, family-friendly electric options to the SUV and MPV segments. As EV adoption rises in India, the Creta EV and Carens EV will cater to a growing number of consumers seeking stylish, spacious, and eco-conscious vehicles for everyday use.
