Mahindra Thar 3-Door Facelift Spied: Interior & Front

Recent spy shots of the Mahindra Thar 3-door facelift show an all-black cabin with a larger touchscreen, shifted controls, and a Roxx-inspired front grille. Expected to retain existing engines, add safety tech, and arrive in 2026 with a slight premium over current prices.

The Mahindra Thar 3-door facelift has been spotted again, this time giving us clear views of its revised front and cabin elements. The test mule keeps the off-road vibe with an all-black theme, but borrows tech from the larger Thar Roxx sibling.

Cabin Updates and Tech

Spy images show the familiar dashboard layout, but now housing a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system lifted from the Thar Roxx.

The instrument cluster in this prototype still uses analogue dials, though production models are likely to switch to a 10.25-inch digital display.

Power window controls have moved from the lower console to the front door panel. The test vehicle displays manual AC, but the final version could get automatic climate control. Other items such as toggle switches, manual gear knob, and seat upholstery appear largely unchanged.

Front Design Tweaks

The facelift’s front fascia features a revised grille reminiscent of the 5-door Thar Roxx. The signature circular headlamps remain but are expected to be LED projector units with updated internal elements.

Previous sightings confirm updated LED tail lamps and new 5-spoke alloy wheels. These subtle design edits keep the Thar’s rugged look while adding freshness.

Expected Features

Beyond the larger screen, the facelift should include auto AC and a premium sound system upgrade. Existing comforts like steering-mounted controls, remote keyless entry, a height-adjustable driver seat, and cruise control are likely to carry over.

On safety, the new Thar may offer six airbags as standard, a 360-degree camera, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and an auto-dimming internal rear view mirror, while retaining electronic stability control, hill start and hill assist control, and a roll cage.

Powertrain Remains Unchanged

Mahindra has not confirmed facelift engines, but the current 3-door Thar offers:

  • 2.0-litre turbo-petrol (152 PS; 300 Nm MT / 320 Nm AT) with RWD/4WD

  • 1.5-litre diesel (118 PS; 300 Nm; RWD)

  • 2.2-litre diesel (132 PS; 300 Nm; 4WD)

Transmissions include 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic (torque converter), where applicable. The facelift is expected to use the same engines and gearbox options.

Launch Timeline, Price & Rivals

The Mahindra Thar 3-door facelift is likely due in 2026. It may command a slight premium over the current range, which starts around ₹11.50 lakh and goes up to ₹17.62 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India).

Once launched, it will continue to compete with the 3-door Force Gurkha and serve as an alternative to the Thar Roxx, Maruti Jimny, and the 5-door Force Gurkha.

In conclusion, spy shots hint that Mahindra aims to blend fresh styling cues from the Thar Roxx with core Thar DNA.

The larger infotainment screen and shifted controls modernize the cabin, while expected safety additions and retained powertrains ensure continuity. With a launch expected in 2026, the facelifted 3-door Thar seems set to offer a lightly refreshed yet familiar off-road package at a modest price bump.
