The much-awaited pickup version of the Mahindra Scorpio N has been spotted testing once again and the spies have captured some interesting new details in the pictures.
The rugged utility vehicle is most likely to debut at the upcoming Freedom_NU event on August 15 and the vehicle looks production-ready and is shaping up to compete with the Toyota Hilux and the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross.
Longer, Meanner, and Useful
The appearance of the new pictures discloses a longer body and a bonnet that appears visibly stretched, which gives the pickup a more imposing presence. The bonnet seems to be narrower and longer in comparison to the basic Scorpio N SUV, suggesting the additional elements of usefulness and load carrying.
A modern front grille characterised by several horizontal slats accompanied by grooved wheel arches that are also similar to the scorpio N, also provide a muscular edge to its punishing look.
It is worth noting that the test mule still returns with steel wheels, which could represent the fact that it is either the base or mid variant in terms of focusing on affordability or intense off-road usage. Steel wheels are usually the best to use in rugged grounds due to their lastingness and low overall maintenance cost.
LED Lighting, Single Cab Setup, and Off-Road Ready
The production models of the mule will have LED headlamps, although the headlights at the moment are still temporary. The also spied model seems to be a single-cab version which is expected to attract buyers in need of pure utility and not lifestyle and luxury oriented pickups.
Powertrain to be Similar to Scorpio N Probably
The Scorpio N Pickup is expected to be powered by a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel, under the hood. This will pump out about 150bhp and 370Nm of torque which is used on the tried and tested 2.2-litre mHawk diesel. The gearbox can be of manual type and automatic type and a 4WD system is to be anticipated hence perfect in town load hauling and off the road in rural areas.
Are you Ready to Launch?
Although the exact launch date is yet to be confirmed by Mahindra, the growing number of frequency and detail of the spy shots are a true indication that the August 15th Freedom_NU event might provide the first-time glimpse of this much-hyped utility vehicle in the market.
Further information such as the full specs, variants and prices will be revealed after it is officially unveiled.
