Kia Indias Scrappage Incentive Program Save While Recycling Your Old Car

Kia India's Scrappage Incentive Program: Save While Recycling Your Old Car

Introduction

Kia India has taken a significant step towards promoting sustainability by introducing its Scrappage Incentive Program, designed to encourage customers to recycle old vehicles responsibly.

Launched in alignment with the Government of India’s Vehicle Scrappage Policy, this initiative offers financial benefits for trading in or scrapping old cars, irrespective of their brand or model.

Key Benefits of Kia’s Scrappage Program

Under the scrappage program, Kia provides the following incentives:

  • Discount on New Cars: Customers receive a 1.5% discount on the ex-showroom price or up to Rs 20,000, whichever is lower, on the purchase of any Kia model.

  • Registration Fee Waiver: The program offers a full waiver of the registration fee for the new car, adding to the financial advantages.

  • Certificate of Deposit: To avail of these benefits, customers must present a valid certificate of deposit, issued by the government upon scrapping a vehicle.

These benefits apply to all vehicles in Kia’s portfolio, from its popular Seltos and Sonet to its premium EVs like the EV6 and EV9.

India’s Scrappage Policy: Why It Matters

The Government of India’s Vehicle Scrappage Policy aims to reduce vehicular emissions by phasing out end-of-life vehicles (ELVs).

A vehicle is classified as an ELV if it:

  • Fails the mandatory fitness test conducted after 15 years of registration.

  • Fails the test twice, rendering it unfit for road use.

The government anticipates that scrapping over one crore unfit vehicles will result in a 15-20% reduction in emissions, significantly contributing to environmental sustainability.

Kia’s Success in India and Future Plans

Since entering the Indian market in 2019, Kia has experienced exponential growth, selling over 10 lakh cars across six models. Its portfolio includes popular offerings like the Seltos, Carnival, Sonet, Carens, and electric vehicles such as the EV6 and EV9. The brand is also preparing to launch its highly awaited Syros SUV soon.

With the scrappage program, Kia not only strengthens its customer base but also aligns with the national vision of reducing pollution and fostering a circular economy.

Conclusion

Kia India’s Scrappage Incentive Program reflects the brand’s commitment to a greener future, offering customers both economic and environmental benefits. By making it easier and more rewarding to recycle older vehicles, Kia continues to drive innovation and responsibility in the Indian automotive sector.
