New Skoda Kodiaq Set for India Debut at Bharat Mobility Show 2025

Introduction

The much-anticipated second-generation Skoda Kodiaq is poised to make its India debut at the upcoming Bharat Mobility Show in New Delhi on January 17, 2025. Skoda India has already begun road-testing the new Kodiaq, hinting at an exciting launch expected in the April-June quarter of 2025.

With its revamped design, expanded cabin space, and advanced features, the new Kodiaq aims to set a new benchmark in the premium SUV segment.

Engine and Powertrain: Proven Turbo-Petrol Excellence

Under the hood, the new Kodiaq retains its 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, which delivers an impressive 190hp and 320Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a 7-speed DCT automatic transmission and a reliable 4X4 drivetrain, ensuring robust performance and versatility on various terrains. Skoda has maintained its focus on petrol power, providing the same driving dynamics as the outgoing model.

Exterior and Interior Highlights

The second-gen Kodiaq adopts Skoda’s “Modern Solid” design language, bringing contemporary aesthetics to the SUV.

Notable updates include:

  • Increased dimensions, offering more cabin space and enhanced boot capacity.

  • A sleek silhouette combined with rugged SUV elements, making it stand out in the crowd.

  • The option for a 7-seater configuration, catering to larger families.

Inside, the Kodiaq gets a tech-laden makeover:

  • A 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system, delivering an immersive multimedia experience.

  • Adding to the futuristic appeal is a fully digital instrument cluster.

  • The innovative Smart Dial system, featuring customisable individual colour displays for a more personalised touch.

Variants and Pricing Expectations

While the outgoing Kodiaq was available in three trims initially, the new model is expected to launch with at least two variants. A marginal price hike is anticipated, with the starting price likely surpassing the outgoing model's Rs 39.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

Launch Timeline and Competitors

The Skoda Kodiaq will officially hit the Indian market by June 2025. It faces stiff competition from premium SUVs like the Volkswagen Tiguan, Hyundai Tucson, Jeep Meridian, MG Gloster, and the Toyota Fortuner.
