The Kia EV9 India launch has been confirmed by the company for 2024 and this will be the second electric car to join the India fleet after the EV6. The company recently revealed the Seltos facelift to the Indian market and it comes with a panoramic sunroof, ADAS suite and more.

The Kia EV9 is based on Hyundai’s Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) and is one of the 14 new electric vehicles expected to be introduced to the market by 2027. The international Kia EV9 is offered in two versions: Standard and Long Range, the Standard model uses a 76.1 kWh battery with a single-motor belting 380 bhp and 600 Nm of peak torque to the rear wheels. The motors are mounted on each axle and has an all-wheel drive ability. The company claims a 0-100 kmph dash in six seconds and the same can be done in 5.3 seconds with an Over-The-Air (OTA) update that bumps the torque to a manic 700 Nm. The company claims a range exceeding 540 km for the Long Range variant and it can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in under 25 minutes with a DC fast-charger.

The Kia EV9 is 5,000 mm long, 1,980 mm wide, and 1,755 mm tall with a wheelbase of 3,100 mm and a ground clearance of 198 mm. The EV9 also features vehicle-to-load functionality that enables customers to charge their devices. The feature list includes a digital cockpit with the driver MID and infotainment unit integrated as one, a blind spot monitor, powered 2nd-row captain seats, over 20 ADAS functions, a surround-view monitor, and OTA updates.

The Kia EV9 will be the most expensive car in its lineup with a price tag north of Rs. 1 crore mark. It will take on the likes of the BMW iX in some international markets.
