Jaguar is discontinuing the manufacture of its XE, XF, and F-Type models at its Castle Bromwich plant in Birmingham, UK, as part of a number of substantial adjustments.
With this, Jaguar will now only focus on producing SUVs. June will mark the end of XE, XF, and F-Type production as the Castle Bromwich plant switches to producing body panels for a completely new range of automobiles. Due to this move, Jaguar's lineup will now only have SUVs, which will be sold abroad through 2024 and include the I-Pace, E-Pace, and F-Pace.
Jaguar has decided to abandon the XE, XF, and F-Type as part of its plan to modernise the Castle Bromwich production and get ready for a new chapter in the company's history in 2025. In 2025, an all-electric four-seat GT vehicle like the Porsche Taycan will be added to the roster. A huge luxury sedan and a luxury SUV modelled like the Bentley Bentayga would be unveiled after that. These cars are all very different from the existing lineup, although they will all ride on Jaguar's new JEA platform.
Jaguar's North American CEO, Joe Eberhardt, shared with Road & Track magazine that the majority of XE, XF, and F-Type production will conclude in June. However, these models will remain available for purchase for a more extended period until the new cars are ready for launch. Jaguar aims for a smooth transition, ensuring a continuous supply of vehicles until the new models hit the market.
Customers still have the opportunity to order a new XE or XF, but these models are being built to set specifications in their final weeks of production, limiting customization options. Ending production at the Castle Bromwich plant is a significant change for the facility, with a rich history, originally producing Spitfires and Lancaster bombers during World War II.
While Jaguar initially planned to build the electric XJ at the Castle Bromwich plant, this project was canceled in 2021. Instead, the upcoming electric vehicles (EVs) will be manufactured about 24 km away in Solihull, starting with the GT model in 2023.
In the past year, the XE and XF experienced increased global sales, selling 9,935 and 10,918 units, respectively. The F-Pace, built in Solihull, outperformed both sedan models, with nearly 16,000 units sold. Despite being over a decade old, the F-Type, Jaguar's sports car, recorded 2,678 sales worldwide in the same period.

In the Indian market, Jaguar currently offers three models: the F-Pace, I-Pace EV, and F-Type. The XE and XF were discontinued due to slow sales. The F-Pace is priced at Rs 72.9 lakh, the I-Pace EV at Rs 1.26 crore, and the F-Type ranges from Rs 1 crore to Rs 1.56 crore.
Jaguar's decision to go SUV-only until 2025 reflects the broader shift in the automotive industry towards electric and SUV markets. The upcoming lineup aims to redefine Jaguar's identity, emphasizing innovation and sustainability in the evolving automotive landscape.
