In 2027, Mahindra Will Start Manufacturing the Vision S, X, and T SUVs

With production expected to begin in 2027, Mahindra & Mahindra is getting ready to move its futuristic Vision S, Vision X, and Vision T concept SUVs from the design studio to the assembly line. These future models, which are based on the cutting-edge NU_IQ modular platform, will be manufactured at the new Nagpur manufacturing site as well as the Chakan plant. In Mahindra's long-term strategy to update its SUV lineup and increase its worldwide capabilities, the move represents a significant step.

  • Production of Mahindra's Vision S, Vision X, and Vision T SUVs is scheduled to start in 2027.

  • An important part of producing next-generation cars based on the NU_IQ platform will be a new mega-plant in Nagpur.

In 2027, Indian SUV manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra will start producing its next-generation SUVs, which are based on the Vision S, Vision X, and Vision T concepts. This will turn the concepts from futuristic showcases into practical goods.

Based on the brand-new NU_IQ modular architecture, these vehicles will cater to both domestic and foreign clients and support gasoline, diesel, hybrid, and electric powertrains.

Production Schedules and Plant Design

A phased manufacturing deployment is outlined in the company's plan. Starting in 2027, Mahindra's Chakan plant will produce vehicles based on the Vision X and Vision T before moving manufacturing to the brand-new Nagpur facility. In the meantime, the models derived from Vision S will be constructed right in the Nagpur factory from the beginning.

With an estimated ₹15,000 crore investment, this Nagpur plant was built on a large 1,500-acre plot of land and is being equipped to handle the upcoming generation of Mahindra vehicles, which will include both internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric versions. It is a crucial component of initiatives to increase capacity and lessen production constraints as demand rises.

What This Signifies for Purchasers

Although the cars' final market names are still pending, Mahindra has emphasized that the Vision concepts are more than just design exercises; they serve as the framework for upcoming SUVs that will compete in a variety of market sectors.

Mahindra typically sells 60% of its SUVs that are larger than four meters in length, with the remaining demand being supplied by SUVs that are less than four meters. The new line attempts to cater to both markets.

With the help of its Chakan and Nashik plants, Mahindra is also attempting to enhance capacity by approximately 3,000-5,000 units for its well-liked electric model, the XEV 9S. Additionally, the company intends to expand its global presence by starting to export left-hand drive variants of its vehicles starting in 2028.

Although the Vision SXT's production specifications are still pending, Mahindra has several concepts in addition to these three SUVs in its future portfolio. When 2027 draws near, Mahindra's introduction of its SUVs based on the NU_IQ platform may change the company's lineup and introduce a new generation of contemporary, flexible-platform automobiles to dealerships.
