Hyundai Updates SUV Range with New Engine Options and E20 Fuel Compliance
Hyundai has updated its range of SUVs in India with new engine options and E20 fuel compliance. The Hyundai Venue, Creta, and Alcazar SUVs have been updated for the 2023 model year with E20-ready and RDE-compliant engines, along with a few feature enhancements.
The Hyundai Venue now gets four airbags from the mid-spec S variant and it now gets the start-stop function as standard. The Hyundai Creta now gets six airbags, electronic stability control, hill start assist, and all-wheel disc brakes as standard offerings.
The big news, however, are the changes made to the engine lineup of both SUVs. The Hyundai Creta now drops the top-of-the-line 1.4-liter turbo petrol engine and continues only with 1.5-liter petrol and diesel engine options. It is not yet known if the turbo petrol motor will be reintroduced to upcoming Creta facelifts at a later stage.
Coming to the subcompact SUV, the Hyundai Venue now gets the more powerful 1.5-liter diesel engine sourced from the Creta and drops the previous 99 brake horsepower 1.5-liter oil burner. Power figures in the new up to 115 brake horsepower while it delivers 10 newton meters more at 250 newton meters of peak torque.
All automakers in India have to comply with 20% ethanol blended fuel or E20 fuel by April 2023. Automakers like Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai among others are upgrading their range in advance to meet the upcoming norms.
