Hyundai Unveils New Electric SUV in India Hyundai has finally unveiled the Ioniq 5 electric SUV in India and has begun accepting bookings for the car. The Ioniq 5 is the second electric offering from Hyundai in India after the Kona electric and will be the first model to be spawned by the E-GMP platform. The E-GMP architecture will underpin Hyundai's future electric vehicles. The Ioniq 5 has a retro-futuristic look and a minimalist cabin draped with sustainable materials. The India-spec Ioniq 5 is equipped with a 72.6 kilowatt-hour battery pack mounted between the front and rear axles. It delivers an ARAI-certified driving range of 631 kilometers and is coupled with a permanent magnet synchronous motor. The motor belts out 215 brake horsepower and 350 Newton meters of peak torque. The electric crossover can be charged up to 80% in 18 minutes via a 350 kilowatt DC charger. On the inside, two large 12.3-inch screens are integrated into one console and the central console between the front seats can slide up to 140 millimeters backward to liberate more space for storage. The car also comes well equipped with active and passive safety features including six airbags, electronic stability and traction control, and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). MG Hector Achieves Production Milestone MG Motor India has rolled out the 100,000th unit of the Hector SUV from its Halol plant. The Hector was launched in 2019 and the milestone comes ahead of the launch of the all-new MG Hector, which was launched in January 2023. The new MG Hector will also be manufactured at the same plant in Halol, Gujarat. Mercedes-AMG E53 Cabriolet Launch The Mercedes-AMG E53 Cabriolet 4MATIC+ is set to be launched in India on January 6, 2023. The car will be sold in India as a completely built unit (CBU). The three-liter inline six-cylinder motor is coupled with an electric motor this time around and will arrive in its most powerful iteration. It will pump out 429 brake horsepower and 520 Newton meters of peak torque, including 21 brake horsepower and 249 Newton meters sourced from the integrated starter generator.
