Hyundai dropped to fourth among carmakers in April 2025, but its main SUV, the Hyundai Creta, stayed India's top-selling SUV. Hyundai moved 17,016 Creta last month, showing a 10% rise from April 2024's 15,447.
Even though sales fell a bit from March's 18,059, the Creta kept its lead, thanks to steady interest in both gas and electric models.
Brezza Bounces Back in the Small SUV Group
Maruti Suzuki's Brezza took second place, rebounding well with 16,971 sold. This shows a tiny 1% drop year-over-year, but it's a good comeback from March when the Brezza had fallen to the third-best-selling SUV. The Brezza's strong showing means it still tops the under-4-meter SUV class in India.
Mahindra Scorpio Rises to Third with Steady Growth
Mahindra Scorpio showed its lasting charm with 15,534 sold in April. This means a 5% year-over-year rise up from 14,807 in April 2024, and better than March 2025's 13,913. The Scorpio was the only Mahindra SUV to crack the top ten overall car sales in India for the month.
Tata Nexon Stays Strong with EV and Gas Demand
Continuing its strong run, the Tata Nexon secured the fourth position with 15,457 units sold. That’s a remarkable 38% YoY jump, compared to 11,168 units in April last year.
Although slightly down from March’s 16,336 units, the Nexon remains a top pick in the compact SUV space, thanks to its dual ICE and EV options.
Maruti Fronx Maintains Momentum
Rounding out the top five was the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, clocking 14,345 units in April 2025. Matching its performance from last year, the Fronx improved its overall ranking by two spots, climbing from tenth place in March to eighth in April, and securing a strong foothold in the entry-level crossover segment.
