India’s SUV Export Boom: Fronx, Jimny & Elevate Drive FY2025 to Record Highs

More than 3.6 lakh units of SUVs were shipped worldwide in FY2025 54% surge from the previous year-and India witnessed record SUV exports. Maruti's Fronx and Jimny, along with Honda's Elevate, held the front positions, together aided by increased demand from Japan, Latin America and the Middle East.

The Indian automobile industry has added yet another traveling watermark with the export of a never-seen-before 3,62,160 units of SUVs and MPVs globally in FY2025, clocking growth of 54% over 2,34,720 units in FY2024.

Maruti Suzuki Fronx and Jimny became the buzzwords in exports alongside the Elevate from Honda, as strong demands are witnessed in overseas markets such as Japan, Africa, and Latin America.

Fronx Becomes The Most Exported SUV From India

Maruti Suzuki Fronx has become the leader in the export of utility vehicles from India in FY2025. The compact crossover shot ahead of all others while being exported at 69,133 units, registering an astounding growth of 364% from FY2024.

Popularity is dominant in Japan, being sold with a 1.5L mild-hybrid petrol engine and AWD, these features remaining yet to be offered back home in India.

Away from tuning down imports - the Jimny is soaring!

In India, however, with slower sales lie the skies for Maruti Jimny exportation. There has been an increase of 116% in the exported numbers of Maruti Jimny, numbering 47,982. Shipments of both 3-door and recently introduced 5-door versions took place to Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa.

Global Gains for Honda Elevate

Honda Elevate was in 10th place in FY2024 and rocketed to third in FY2025, thanks to an immense popularity rise. 45,167 unit exports have witnessed a 340% increase, mainly from the Japanese market, where it is rebadged as Honda WR-V. This car even surpassed the Honda City when talking about the export figures.
