Heres All About The Latest Unnamed Skoda Suv

Here’s all about the latest unnamed Skoda SUV

The compact SUV segment in India is highly competitive and lucrative for car manufacturers despite low-profit margins, owing to the potential for high sales volumes. Skoda's entry into this segment adds to the existing variety, with a line-up of ten compact SUVs from nine different manufacturers set to hit the market. Skoda has been testing its upcoming sub-4m SUV for several months, with early spy shots indicating a design reminiscent of a smaller version of the Kushaq. Here's a preview of what to expect from the upcoming Skoda compact SUV.

Design, Dimensions

Based on the MQB-A0-IN platform, the compact Skoda SUV will feature a shorter wheelbase compared to the Kushaq to fit into the sub-4m segment. With a targeted reduction in length of about 230mm and trimmed front and rear overhangs, the SUV aims to meet the length criteria. The design is anticipated to reflect Skoda's signature style with split headlamps, a slatted grille, and a modern look akin to a downsized Kushaq.

Interior, Features

Skoda plans to enhance the feature offerings in the upcoming SUV beyond its current Kushaq and Slavia models. Features like a 360-degree camera and an ADAS suite are expected to be included, keeping pace with the well-equipped compact SUV segment. The interior is likely to resemble the Kushaq's spacious and premium cabin.

Powertrain, Specs

Powering the compact SUV will be Skoda's 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine, generating 115hp and 178Nm of torque. Known for its responsiveness, refinement, and fuel efficiency, this engine will offer robust acceleration and performance in the lighter SUV. The SUV will retain the 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic transmissions.

Price

Positioned as a global model for export markets, the Skoda compact SUV targets competitive pricing and high-scale sales to align with India 2.5 plan objectives. Priced between Rs 9 lakh-14 lakh (ex-showroom), the SUV will compete effectively against key rivals like Maruti, Hyundai, and Tata while slightly edging out the budget-friendly Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger. The launch is slated for March 2025.

In an innovative move, Skoda is engaging its audience through a social media naming contest for the SUV following the 'K' to 'Q' global naming convention. Ten potential names, including Kylaq, Kymaq, and Kariq, have been shortlisted, allowing enthusiasts to participate in choosing the brand's SUV moniker.
