The 2027 Honda City facelift has been caught on camera testing in Brazil, wrapped in full camouflage, revealing subtle but meaningful design changes to both the front and rear ends.
The updated sedan is expected to launch in Brazil around August 2026 at the Interlagos Festival, with the India launch anticipated to follow a similar timeline.
Honda's City sedan has been a stalwart of the executive saloon segment for years, and the Japanese carmaker is clearly not ready to let it go quietly. A test mule of the 2027 Honda City facelift has been photographed under heavy camouflage during testing in Brazil, giving enthusiasts an early glimpse of what the updated model will bring to the table. This comes at a particularly interesting time, as Honda is already developing the next-generation City, which is expected to arrive globally in 2028. The facelift, then, serves as a carefully considered holding update to keep the current model competitive.
What the Spy Shots Reveal
Exterior Updates Stay True to Honda's New Design Language
The test mule, covered in thick cloth, still gives away enough to suggest a front-end makeover. A revised front grille and a more prominent bumper are clearly in the works, and the headlamps appear to have been restyled as well, drawing inspiration from the newer Honda Civic.
The side profile is expected to remain largely unchanged in terms of dimensions, though a fresh set of alloy wheels should sharpen the overall look. At the rear, the bumper is set to receive new detailing, keeping things visually aligned with the updated front end.
Cabin Gets a Modest but Welcome Upgrade
Inside, the facelift is expected to bring updated seat upholstery and, significantly, a 360-degree camera and ventilated front seats as standard fitment. The rest of the interior equipment is likely to carry over, including the 8-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, an 8-speaker surround sound system, ambient lighting, a PM 2.5 air filter, and fully automatic climate control.
The Level 2 ADAS safety suite, which has been a key selling point for the City in India, is also expected to be retained.
Powertrain Remains Unchanged Across Markets
There are no mechanical changes anticipated with this facelift. In India, the City will continue with its 1.5-litre naturally aspirated i-VTEC DOHC engine producing 121 PS and 145 Nm of torque, paired with either a 6-speed manual or a CVT.
The Brazilian-spec model runs on a similar engine architecture but is tuned for both petrol and ethanol, generating 126 PS and up to 155 Nm, mated to a 7-speed CVT.
Launch Timeline and What It Means for India
Brazil is expected to see the reveal at the Interlagos Festival in August 2026. Although a Brazilian source has suggested the styling updates may be exclusive to their market, history points in a different direction.
The 2023 Honda City facelift saw India and Brazil receive broadly similar updates, and there is good reason to believe the same approach will be followed this time around. With rivals like the Hyundai Verna already refreshed and the Skoda Slavia and Volkswagen Virtus facelifts also in the pipeline, Honda will want to ensure the City stays firmly in the conversation.
