The Swedish automaker Volvo Car India has celebrated manufacturing 10,000 vehicles in India at their Bangalore ground. The first vehicle to come off the assembly line was the Volvo XC90, which the company began building in India in 2017. The XC90, XC60, S90, XC40 Recharge, and the newly released C40 Recharge are the five models that are assembled at this plant. The automaker added that with over 4,000 units produced, the XC60 leads the production chart. Learn more about Volvo cars.

Our dedication to India's luxury mobility market is demonstrated by the steady expansion of Bangalore's capacity. Our first pure electric vehicle, the XC40 Recharge, continues to demonstrate customer confidence and has the distinction of being the ten thousandth car. The entire ecosystem at Volvo Car India deserves my gratitude for making this accomplishment possible."
At the same event, the head of Production Gao Feng addressed, “Rolling out the ten thousandth car is indeed a major milestone for our plant Since 2017, to meet customer demand, we have been expanding our capacities and consistently improving our skills, which has allowed us to successfully assemble EVs. Additionally, our facility is proud to have introduced the XC40 Recharge, India's first locally assembled electric vehicle.”
Volvo Cars India saw a 31% increase in overall sales over the prior year, with total deliveries reaching 2,423 cars—a substantial rise over the 1,851 units delivered in 2022.
