You May Face Legal Action In India If Your Vehicle Has White Led Lights Heres Why

You may face legal action in India if your vehicle has white LED lights; Here’s why

The trend of installing aftermarket LED headlamps with bright white lights has experienced a significant surge in India over the past few years. While some automakers offer white LED headlights as standard equipment in their vehicles, many car owners opt to install them aftermarket if their vehicles come with traditional yellow lamps. However, the Transport Department of the Government of Gujarat has recently issued a directive prohibiting the installation of unauthorized white LED headlights in vehicles across the state.

According to reports, vehicle owners found with these unauthorized modifications, such as white LED lights, may face penalties as the Ahmedabad Regional Transport Office (RTO) has launched a dedicated campaign to target such unauthorized installations. The directive issued by the Commissionerate of Transport underlines the dangers associated with excessively bright white lights, which could potentially blind drivers coming from the opposite direction and lead to serious accidents on the roads.

In response to numerous complaints about unauthorized white LED lights causing distractions and safety hazards, the Transport Department has instructed all RTOs within its jurisdiction to conduct strict enforcement drives and submit action-taken reports. Furthermore, not only will legal actions be taken against vehicle owners with unauthorized white LED lights, but authorities also plan to crack down on auto accessory shops that sell and install such unauthorized lighting systems. This proactive approach aims to mitigate the risks associated with aftermarket white LED headlamp installations on vehicles, particularly on national highways and in urban areas where these lights can pose a significant safety concern.
