Xiaomi YU7 electric SUV crosses 2 lakh orders in 3 minutes

Unveiled in June 2025, Xiaomi’s YU7 electric SUV has made a record-breaking debut in China, receiving over 2 lakh orders within three minutes of launch. Positioned directly against the Tesla Model Y, the YU7 combines futuristic design, long-range capability, and aggressive pricing to challenge global EV leaders.

The YU7 SUV, which is Xiaomi’s second electric vehicle, released on June 26, 2025, has captured everyone’s attention. The moment bookings for the car opened, within three minutes, orders surged to over 200,000, climbing to 290,000 within an hour.

At RMB 253,500 (approx. ₹29.2 lakh), the YU7 is competitively priced, especially as it offers more value for money than the Tesla Model Y. With features and performance that outdo the competition, the YU7 is a fantastic option.

Design and Styling

The YU7 building on the cellular design language introduced with the SU7 sedan features a slim and elegant coupe blend-shape, a wide grille complete with aggressive air intakes, and a connected LED light bar.

The sloping, tapering roofline and flush door handles add to its premium, muscular but aerodynamic stance. A spacious boot has been integrated along with clever storage solutions, ensuring that practicality is not overlooked.

Feature-Packed Cabin

Within the YU7, you find a 1.1-meter HyperVision Heads Up Display, along with a 16.1-inch central touchscreen, which together are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset.

On Xiaomi’s HyperOS and integrating both smartphones and smart home devices, it offers seamless synergy. Comfort and convenience are advanced with premium upholstery, multi-zone climate control, ambient lighting, a rear-seat projector, and magnetic accessories.

Performance and Range

The SUV is available in three versions: Standard (RWD), Pro (AWD), and Max (AWD). The battery choices consist of a 96.3kWh LFP pack from BYD and a 101kWh NMC pack from CATL, which have a range of 760km to 835km (CLTC).

The performance statistics are just as impressive:

  • Standard RWD: 0–100 km/h in 5.9s, 835 km range

  • Pro AWD: 0–100 km/h in 4.3s, 770 km range

  • Max AWD: 0–100 km/h in 3.2s, 253 km/h top speed

Built on an 800V architecture, the YU7 supports ultra-fast charging—10%–80% in just 12 minutes, or 620 km of range in 15 minutes.

Global Outlook

Xiaomi’s delivery of more than 30,000 units in only one month indicates the company’s determination to compete in the EV market. Although there are no confirmations about the exports as of now, the YU7 is widely expected to not only compete with Tesla but also with other well-established EV makers like Hyundai, Kia, and Volkswagen if it gets launched in Europe and other markets.
