What to expect from Toyota Urban Cruiser?

 Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder

The Toyota Urban Cruiser is a fine SUV, but it takes more than a car's specs to decide if it is worth buying. What you need is a comprehensive overview of the owner's experience and you can find it here.

Now that Toyota has discontinued the production of the Urban Cruiser, you might be curious if it's still a good choice. Spacious and practical, the car indeed offers a satisfying driving experience.

You can have a look at this Toyota Urban Cruiser Review to get a more comprehensive understanding.

A practical review of the Toyota Urban Cruiser

A car might look great on paper, but it is the practical experience that matters the most. This Urban Cruiser Ownership Review evaluates the car on relevant aspects.

Roomy cabin space and comfy seating

The generous space this car brings to you is one of the best things about the Urban Cruiser. The SUV boasts a large cabin with comfortable seating.

Toyota integrated the car with high-set seats, making it convenient for elderly passengers to board or get off the Urban Cruiser. Even tall passengers will not find it difficult to fit into the rear seats because of the large headroom and knee room.

A Toyota Urban Cruiser Review would be incomplete without mentioning the ample cargo space and practical storage features. The SUV boasts a 328-litre boot, and you can fold the rear seats too.

A decent package of features

In addition to the superior interior layout, the Toyota Urban Cruiser also comes with a nice package of infotainment, safety and other features.

The 7-inch infotainment touchscreen offers both Android and Apple Connectivity. Thanks to the cooled glovebox, you can now store cold beverages during long drives.

The cruise control, rain-sensing wipers and automatic LED headlamps and fog lamps are additional star features.

The SUV lacks certain safety features since it is an older model. However, for the price of the vehicle, the features offered are sufficient.

On-road performance and mileage

Urban Cruiser's 1.5L engine does fairly well churning out 103bhp of power and 138Nm of torque. More importantly, the engine is highly responsive and can pick up pace fast.

As per ARAI ratings, the manual transmission variant offers a mileage of 18.72 kmpl. With the automatic transmission variant, you get a mileage of 17.01 kmpl. Taking its performance into account, such fuel economy is quite good for an SUV.

Ride quality

The car absorbs bumps quite well when driving at high speeds, offering excellent ride quality. At slower speeds, however, harsh bumps can be felt in the cabin.

The K15 motor does not vibrate harshly even when running for long periods. It is mostly silent but might become audible when driving at higher speeds.

Driving experience

Depending on the variant, you may get a four-speed automatic transmission or a five-speed manual transmission.

The gears shift quite well, usually close to 2,000 rpm. The Toyota Urban Cruiser is quite responsive even on downshifts. Additionally, the 'L' and '2' selectable modes make your job easier when dealing with steep slopes.

The car's excellent handling and responsive steering wheel further add to its city driving capabilities. The SUV also delivers decent stability at high speeds, though it could have done better in this regard.

Now that you have checked the Urban Cruiser review, here is the final verdict.

Conclusion

Is Toyota Urban Cruiser still a good choice?

As far as city driving is concerned, the Urban Cruiser definitely lives up to its name. The SUV admittedly lacks some of the latest features but offers good value for money. The Urban Cruiser Ownership Review sums up that it is a nice blend of performance, comfort and driving experience.
