Driving Assistant Plus is a major safety and driver-assistance update for the BMW 5 Series LWB.
With lighted ambient lighting, a new Panorama Glassroof Sky Lounge improves cabin atmosphere, particularly for rear occupants.
Under the ‘Driving Assistant Plus’ package, BMW's 5 Series LWB, which is already marketed as a high-end luxury sedan, now has a more extensive set of driver-assistance functions. These improvements are intended to improve overall safety while lowering driving stress.
Active cruise control with ‘Stop & Go’, lane-keep assistance, front and rear collision alarms, cross-traffic alerts, and blind-spot monitoring are all features of the upgraded system. Together, these devices enable safer driving in both urban and highway settings by warning the driver of potential dangers nearby.
In stop-start traffic, the Stop & Go active cruise control is especially helpful because it enables the sedan to change its speed, keep a safe following distance, and even stop completely when traffic stops before seamlessly resuming.
Illuminated Roof Adds Style and Comfort
Above the heads of the passengers, there is another significant difference. A Panorama Glassroof Sky Lounge, which surpasses a traditional sunroof, is added to the upgraded model. The car's ambient lighting system interacts with integrated LED lights and a printed graphic on the glass to create a visually pleasing interior.
Given the LWB's emphasis on comfort, passengers in the back seat will particularly appreciate this illuminated roof, which maximizes natural light during the day and provides a laid-back, lounge-like atmosphere at night.
No Mechanical Modifications, Same Cost
BMW has maintained the same mechanical setup and pricing in spite of these careful modifications. The 5 Series LWB is still only offered in India in the 530Li M Sport model, which costs ₹73.35 lakh (ex-showroom). The sedan's smooth performance and comfortable ride are maintained with the same engine and modest hybrid support.
This updated 5 Series LWB, which competes with competitors like the Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB and Audi A6, focuses on enhancing the ownership experience with useful, high-value features that improve occupant safety and overall ambience rather than relying on significant design modifications.
