Hyundai Joins the Fleet Market with Prime HB and SD

In an effort to enter the fleet and taxi markets, Hyundai Motor India has introduced its new Prime line. The Prime SD sedan and the Prime HB hatchback are part of this lineup. With an emphasis on low operating costs, factory-fitted CNG, necessary comfort amenities, and robust safety credentials, both models are built for heavy commercial use. The Prime line, which offers affordable pricing, flexible financing, and extended warranties, demonstrates Hyundai's dedication to organised fleet mobility in India and supports drivers and major operators across the country.

  • The Prime HB and Prime SD are Hyundai's first cars designed especially for India's fleet sector.

  • These versions, which have CNG alternatives, enhanced safety, and heavy usage-focused designs, are intended for commercial and taxi use.

With the introduction of the Prime HB and Prime SD, two specialised taxi models, Hyundai Motor India has formally announced its foray into the fleet and commercial mobility industry.

Despite the fact that its cars are frequently utilised in commercial fleets, this is a major change for the company, which has primarily catered to private automobile consumers.

Hyundai plans to offer customised solutions with this new line to fleet owners, ride-hailing services, and taxi drivers throughout India.

What Exactly is Prime SD and Prime HB?

The popular Grand i10 Nios platform served as the basis for the Prime HB hatchback, while the Hyundai Aura served as the inspiration for the Prime SD sedan.

With an emphasis on robustness, dependability, and affordability, both models have been streamlined and refined for commercial application. For a nominal fee of ₹5,000, reservations for both cars are being accepted at Hyundai dealerships across the country.

Useful Fuel and Powertrain

Hyundai's dependable 1.2-liter Kappa four-cylinder engine powers both Prime versions. In addition to gasoline, they provide a factory-fitted CNG alternative, which lowers operating costs, a crucial aspect for taxi drivers dealing with growing fuel costs.

The Prime HB's reported fuel efficiency is 27.32 km/kg, whereas the Prime SD CNG's is 28.40 km/kg.

Factors That Count on the Road

Hyundai has made sure the Prime line incorporates crucial safety and comfort elements, in contrast to many plain commercial models.

Six airbags, rear AC vents, power windows, and an 80 km/h speed restriction installed by the business are standard on both variants. A car tracking system with emergency buttons and a 9-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are optional enhancements that are helpful for fleet managers.

Cost, Warranty, and Help

With prices starting at about ₹5.99 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Prime HB and ₹6.89 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Prime SD, both are competitive with the fleet's current offers.

In order to accommodate high-usage commercial customers, Hyundai provides flexible financing options for up to 72 months, extended warranties for up to the fourth and fifth years, or 1,80,000 kilometers, and specialised fleet care advisors at dealerships.

Why This Matters

This launch shows Hyundai’s intent to dive deeper into India’s growing commercial vehicle market by providing tailored products backed by factory support. By combining reliable powertrains, fleet-friendly features, and value-driven pricing, Hyundai aims to attract both independent taxi operators and larger fleet businesses in search of dependable, cost-effective vehicles.
