Testing of the New Renault Duster India Spec Before Its 2026 Launch

New spy photos of the upcoming Renault Duster provide the most accurate picture yet of what consumers can anticipate from the SUV's eagerly anticipated comeback, revealing important India-specific characteristics. The pictures suggest a more feature-rich cabin, a bolder design with contemporary lighting, and the potential addition of cutting-edge safety features like ADAS. The new Duster intends to re-establish itself as a formidable competitor in India's fiercely competitive midsize SUV market, with petrol-only powertrains anticipated at launch.

  • New spy photos provide the first comprehensive look at the India-spec Renault Duster, revealing design changes and anticipated features before it is released.

  • What to expect under the skin, from safety tech and engines to interior and category positioning.

The brand-new Renault Duster has been seen testing on Indian roads once more. It is heavily camouflaged, but it is obvious that it has undergone significant design changes for India. Slender headlamps with eyebrow-shaped LED DRLs up front are visible in the spy photos, giving the SUV a more modern appearance than the departing model.

Multiple air intake slits and fog lamps are visible in the bumper design beneath the grille, and a camera module indicates that a 360-degree view system would be available.

Renault's first advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) radar sensor in India is visible on the windscreen. The test mule also has a panoramic sunroof, indicating that the company intends to fight fiercely in the feature-rich compact SUV market.

The SUV maintains its strong stance when viewed from the side, and its rugged charm is enhanced by body cladding over the wheel arches and roof rails. The Duster has a sleeker silhouette thanks to clever features like rear door handles that are integrated into the C-pillar. Wraparound taillights and a roof-mounted spoiler finish the appearance in the back, many design elements are still hidden by camouflage.

Safety, Technology, and Cabin Expectations

Renault has not yet made the interior public, but it is probably going to be very similar to the international model, with careful modifications made for India.

A touchscreen infotainment system, digital driver display, and connectivity options like wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are all expected in a contemporary cockpit. The 2018 Duster will be among the most technologically advanced Renault vehicles in India, thanks to the anticipated addition of ADAS capabilities, which will significantly improve safety.

How Does the New Duster Work?

In contrast to the diesel alternatives that characterised previous versions, the India-spec Duster looks set to rely solely on gasoline powertrains at launch. According to reports, Renault may offer a 1.3-liter turbo-petrol engine with about 156 horsepower; lower-tier models are probably going to have a smaller 1.0-liter turbo unit.

A powerful hybrid unit that might increase performance appeal and efficiency is also being discussed for a future release.

All Set to Compete

The 2018 Renault Duster is anticipated to battle hard in the highly competitive compact SUV market thanks to its blend of tough design, contemporary technology, and feature package. The Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, two competitors, will be watching this confident comeback. When Renault's updated SUV debuts in early 2026, it will be more evident whether it can win back its supporters.
