Unleash Toyota Urban Cruiser
The Toyota Urban Cruiser is a compact SUV that offers a comfortable ride, stylish design, and a range of features, making it a practical choice for urban driving.
With many safety features such as blind spot monitoring, lane keeping assist, and automatic high beam headlights, the Urban Cruiser will also have a new generation of infotainment services such as Amazon Alexa integrated into the car's infotainment system.
The Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder offers a host of different features including an upgraded infotainment system with wireless headphones, a power liftgate, a heated steering wheel, keyless entry, dual-zone climate control, automatic lighting control, and rear cross-traffic alert functions.
- The Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder comes in three strong hybrid trims: S, G, and V, and a mild hybrid trim: NeoDrive. A CNG version of the SUV was launched in January this year, which comes in two trims: S and G.
- The price of the strong-hybrid models has increased by ?50,000 this year. Apart from the cost, there aren't any changes made to the Hyryder.
The NeoDrive variant ranges from ?10.48 lakhs to 17.19 lakhs. The CNG variants (S and G) are priced at around 13.23 lakhs and 15.29 lakhs, respectively.
- The front looks futuristic with a characteristic Toyota flair. Together with the LED DRLs, there is a chrome detail that perfectly runs past the Toyota emblem on the grille. If you look closely, you'll see a sleek carbon fibre detail with a nice gloss finish on the grille. Toyota's signature lower grille with honeycomb inserts is another clever design component.
- The length of the car is prominent when you look at the side, and the rear window is also properly sized. The Hyryder has a proportionate design and is one of the longest SUVs in the market. Higher variations come with eye-catching Y-spoke rims that further improve the look in addition to the basic 17-inch wheels.
- The Hyryder's rear design is impressive as well; similar to the front's slim DRLs, the rear features C-shaped narrow tail lamps, which is a brilliant and distinctive design element.
- The centre console with a waterfall effect has accents with a striking metal appearance. The leather upholstered steering wheel is of the perfect size with all the buttons you need, although a flat-bottomed design would have looked better.
- The head-up display helps you keep focused on driving by providing vital information, which is another standout feature.
- In addition, the strong hybrid variant has a well-rounded, fully digital instrument cluster with corresponding colour themes for the three driving modes. It also features a freestanding 9.0-inch infotainment screen that is perfect for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto features. To match the premium Hybrid design, the push-button ignition has a blue-coloured button with chrome detailing.
- The huge front seats are featured with ventilation and a brown+black pattern in higher variants. The seats provide excellent lateral support. Despite the driver seat being nearly all the way back, the rear seats recline to offer quite exceptional space and legroom.
It is notably airy and comfortable to spend long stretches of time in the cabin as the panoramic roof opens further back due to the openable rear. Given that it is one of the longest SUVs in its class, the boot offers a significant capacity -255 litres for the strong hybrid and 355 litres for the standard petrol version. For additional space, there is also a 60:40 split seat option.
However, the battery pack positioned beneath this area causes the Hybrid model to lack space. But, the Neodrive petrol model has far greater boot capacity, and although we don't yet have figures, we anticipate it to be among the largest in the sector.

In the Global NCAP crash test, the Toyota Urban Cruiser received a 4-Star rating for adult safety and a 3-Star rating for child safety. The Urban Cruiser received 13.52 out of 17 points for adult occupant safety.
For child safety, it achieved a score of 36.68 out of 49 points. Besides, the Urban Cruiser's body shell has been rated as stable and capable of bearing extra loads.
- The car offers three driving modes (Eco, Normal, and Sport), with power delivery varying between the modes. The car is ideal for driving in town and cruising the highway, but performance enthusiasts might want more power.
- The car's top speed is 170 kmph and reaches from 0 to 100 kmph in 12.10 seconds in the Power mode. In Normal and Eco modes, the SUV goes from 0 to 100 kmph in 13.10 and 13.35 seconds, respectively.
Like most strong hybrids, the engine doesn't give its full performance as soon as the car is turned on, as it takes off in EV mode. The engine cranks up only if you hit the throttle harder for high performance or if the Hybrid system's battery pack requires a recharge.
Driving the Hyryder in EV mode, therefore, induces a sensation of serenity while you are driving. You get a distinct driving experience of an EV; however, the hybrid engine makes quite the roar as it starts.
- The CNG version offers a mileage of 26.6 kmpl.
- The hybrid has been found to offer a real-life mileage of a staggering 20.28 kmpl in the city and 22.85 kmpl on the highway.
