Volkswagen Golf GTI out at Indian dealerships

Volkswagen has officially initiated deliveries of its first-ever batch of its hot hatch—and the Golf GTI. The 2025 Golf GTI enters the Indian market as a limited-edition hot hatch, with 150 total units in its first lot, and is fully loaded with premium features, powerful performance, and sport styling; thus, making it a unique offering in the enthusiast car segment in India.

The Volkswagen Golf GTI, a hot hatch that has generated much anticipation from consumers, has finally made its way to all local dealerships in India, with the first batch of cars officially disbursed.

Last month, Volkswagen disclosed that the introductory price for the Golf GTI was ₹53 lakh (ex-showroom). The Golf GTI will be a limited-edition hot hatch with 150 total units in its first lot.

Spray-painted in head-turning Moonstone Grey in the illustrative images, the Golf GTI can also be bought in Oryx White, Kings Red Metallic and Grenadilla Black Metallic.

Volkswagen has clearly tempted Indian performance car drivers by providing a contrasting mixture of style and exclusivity.

Engine & Performance: The Pure Definition of Hot Hatch

The Golf GTI has the same kind of 2.0-litre four-cylinder TSI petrol engine found in the various Skoda cars in India, which develops 261 bhp and 370 Nm of torque, as well as a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT), which takes the Golf GTI from 0 to 100 kmph in just 5.8 seconds—a clear indication that it is an aggressive performance machine.

This combination of power and handling finesse is exactly what put the GTI badge on the global map, and is now available locally.

Features and Equipment: A Technologically-Laden Cabin

Volkswagen has made sure this performance hatchback can be enjoyed in terms of creature comforts as well. Pretty impressive features in the Golf GTI include:

  • Panoramic sunroof

  • 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation (In addition to connected car technology)

  • All-LED lighting system

  • 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels

  • Dual chrome exhausts

  • Ambient lighting

  • Seven airbags

  • Fully digital instrument cluster

Inside, the Golf GTI has a three-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel, sports accents, and a well-finished cabin to complement its sporty looks.

What’s Next?

Volkswagen has confirmed that a second batch of the Golf GTI is already on the cards, with a fresh shipment due in India by the end of 2025, suggesting that early demand appears positive.

Hot hatch enthusiasts eager to get behind the wheel of this iconic vehicle should act quickly - these are sure to be sold out in the current allocation.

Given its great performance credentials and desirable premium appointments, expect the Golf GTI to establish a niche for itself with India's nascent performance car market.
