In a remarkable move towards more sustainable mobility, Toyota Kirloskar Motor has launched the Neo Drive variants of Toyota Fortuner and Fortuner Legender in India, and these are now the first Fortuner models in India to feature any kind of hybrid system with 48V mild-hybrid technology
Fortuner's Initial Mild-Hybrid tech for Improved efficiency
The Neo Drive variants of the Fortuner feature a Toyota 2.8-litre diesel engine paired with a 48V lithium-ion battery, alongside a belt-integrated starter generator. In addition to enhancing low-end torque, Toyota's 48V mild-hybrid system also improves fuel economy and it runs quieter and smoother.
The powertrain also works with a regenerative braking system, which harnesses energy normally lost while braking by recharging the battery at the same time, in addition to helping with effective braking distance and performance. Part of the design considerations for the Neo Drive powertrain was the system's Smart Idle Start-Stop which switches the engine off at idle to conserve fuel consumption and produce less CO2 emissions.
Pricing and Positioning

Toyota Fortuner Legender Neo Drive: ₹50.09 lakh
