Top Special Edition Compact SUVs Launched for the 2024 Festive Season: Unique Styling, Added Features, and Limited Editions

As the festive season unfolds, automakers have released special edition versions of their popular compact SUVs, with each model showcasing distinct elements and styling upgrades to set them apart from their standard versions. These limited-edition SUVs are designed to offer a unique touch for car buyers looking to add a bit of flair to their festive purchases. Here's an in-depth look at some of the standout special edition compact SUVs of 2024, including Hyundai’s Creta Knight, Kia’s Seltos Gravity, Honda’s Elevate Apex, MG’s Astor Blackstorm, Maruti’s Grand Vitara Dominion, and Toyota’s Urban Cruiser Hyryder Festive Edition.

Hyundai Creta Knight Edition

The Hyundai Creta, a leader in the compact SUV segment, adds to its appeal with the Knight Edition. Hyundai has introduced this special variant with a blacked-out exterior and interior that emphasizes a sporty and aggressive look. Available in the S(O) and SX(O) trims, it features blacked-out styling elements on the grille, 17-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, and a rear spoiler. Red brake calipers and a Knight badge add a distinctive flair, while the cabin sports an all-black theme with brass-colored accents.

The Creta Knight Edition, however, remains mechanically unchanged and does not offer the option of a turbo-petrol engine, keeping to the 115 PS 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol and 116 PS 1.5-litre diesel engines. Available with either a manual or automatic transmission, this edition is priced from Rs 14.51 lakh to Rs 20.15 lakh (ex-showroom), with a premium of Rs 15,000 over its standard counterpart.

Kia Seltos Gravity Edition

Kia has launched the Seltos Gravity Edition to cater to those who prefer added convenience and tech-focused features. Based on the HTX trim, this special edition enhances the experience with features like ventilated front seats, a Bose audio system, a dashcam, and an electronic parking brake on CVT variants. The Gravity Edition gets unique exterior updates as well, including a gloss-black rear spoiler, redesigned 17-inch alloy wheels, and Gravity badging.

The Seltos Gravity Edition retains existing highlights from the HTX trim, such as a panoramic sunroof, 10.25-inch touchscreen, and dual-zone climate control. Safety features include six airbags and a tyre pressure monitoring system. The Gravity Edition is available with either a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with a 6-speed manual or CVT or a 1.5-litre diesel engine paired with a 6-speed manual. It is priced from Rs 16.63 lakh to Rs 18.21 lakh (ex-showroom).

Honda Elevate Apex Edition

Honda joins the festive celebrations with the Elevate Apex Edition, which is based on the V and VX trims. This limited edition focuses on enhancing the exterior and interior aesthetics. Priced at a Rs 15,000 premium over the standard V and VX variants, the Apex Edition includes a piano-black front spoiler with silver accents, rear garnish, and ‘Apex Edition’ badging on the tailgate. Inside, the SUV features a dual-tone ivory and black cabin, along with leather seats embossed with the Apex Edition logo.

However, the Apex Edition does not offer additional features or powertrain upgrades and keeps to the standard 1.5-litre engine options with a manual or CVT transmission. Prices for the Elevate Apex Edition range from Rs 12.86 lakh to Rs 15.25 lakh (ex-showroom).

MG Astor Blackstorm Edition

The MG Astor Blackstorm Edition makes a comeback in a sleek all-black color scheme with red accents throughout. Based on the mid-spec Select variant, it features red brake calipers, blacked-out exterior elements, and red details in the interior, enhancing its sporty look. The Blackstorm Edition includes a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 7-inch digital driver’s display, and a 6-speaker audio system, as well as a panoramic sunroof.

Powered by a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 110 PS and 144 Nm, the Astor Blackstorm Edition is available with either a 5-speed manual or CVT automatic transmission. The manual version is priced at Rs 13.45 lakh, while the CVT automatic is priced at Rs 14.46 lakh (ex-showroom).

Maruti Grand Vitara Dominion Edition

Maruti introduced the Dominion Edition of the Grand Vitara SUV, adding both exterior and interior accessories. The Dominion Edition is available with the Delta, Zeta, and Alpha variants and is priced at a premium of up to Rs 52,699 over the standard models. Exterior enhancements include front and rear skid plates, ORVM and headlight garnishes, and body side moulding. The interior is upgraded with all-weather 3D mats, ‘Nexa’-branded cushions, and custom seat covers. This special edition retains the same powertrain and feature list as the standard variants, with no additional engine options.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder Festive Edition

Toyota brings festive cheer with the Urban Cruiser Hyryder Festive Edition, which features a complimentary set of exterior and interior accessories worth up to Rs 50,817. Offered on the G and V variants, this edition does not require any additional payment for the added features. The exterior includes mud flaps, door visors with stainless steel inserts, bumper and headlight garnishes, and body side cladding. The interior includes a dashcam and all-weather mats.

The Hyryder Festive Edition retains the standard 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, which is offered with either mild-hybrid or strong-hybrid tech and a CNG variant.

Choosing the Right Special Edition

Each of these special editions offers unique styling and added features to suit different preferences. While Hyundai’s Creta Knight and MG’s Astor Blackstorm focus on a blacked-out sporty aesthetic, Kia’s Seltos Gravity and Honda’s Elevate Apex provide convenience and premium interior touches. Maruti’s Grand Vitara Dominion and Toyota’s Hyryder Festive Edition provide an accessory package without changing the core features or mechanics.

These special editions offer a fresh take for those looking to own a unique version of their favorite compact SUVs this festive season.
