The Kia Carens Clavis EV Taxi Leaked, Has a 404km Range

Kia is adding a taxi-specific model to its electric MPV range, with a new version of the Carens Clavis EV. An upcoming HTM trim, which is derived from the HTK+, will have a 404km range, a seven-seat design and features that will be practical in its commercial applications. It will most likely go on sale at a bit more price than the base model.

Kia India is gearing up to enter deeper into the fleet and commercial vehicle segment with a special taxi version of the Carens Clavis EV. Rumors suggested that the new model, which is expected to feature under the name of the HTM trim, will specifically be launched as a move suited to the specific needs of the fleet operators, as the upcoming model will provide a great combination of practicality, efficiency, and range to the market at a reasonable price.

Powertrain and Performance

The Carens Clavis EV taxi-cab version should have a 42kWh battery system and a single electric motor, which has 133bhp and 255Nm of torque.

The configuration is said to have a range of 404km with a complete charge, which makes it ideal for urban duties, feeder services in airports, and between cities with constant performance and zero emissions.

Interior and Comfort Features: Creating a Vehicle to be used Daily

The HTM trim does not leave functionality behind, even though it targets the taxi segment. It is fronted with a twin 12.25-inch infotainment-instrument cluster, rear-car AC vents, electric tumble second-row seats, steering-mounted audio controls, paddle shifters with regen braking, cruise control, manual speed limiter, and keyless entry.

Passengers have a comfortable ride in the cabin as they are reclining seats with a dual-tone cabin theme.

Exterior Styling and Design Touches

On the exterior, the Carens Clavis EV HTM is going to appear quite similar to the HTK+ edition with minor hints that point out its fleet purpose.

Notable features are a closed-off grille, LED headlights and DRL, aero optimized 16-inch alloy wheels, front, rear skid plate and a roof-mounted rear spoiler with LED stop lamp. These are feature that makes it a little modern in its functionality design.

Market Positioning and Price Expectation

The HTM variant should be sold at only Rs. 20,000 over the HTK+ model, and hence should be around 18.19 lakh (ex-showroom). This presents it as a good prospect to commercial buyers who are in need of a 7-seater electric MPV with low running costs and an adequately loaded package.

Kia sees an opportunity to leverage the emergence of a new demand for eco-friendly urban mobility solutions in India, especially in the shared and commercial transport segment with Carens Clavis EV HTM.
