In its 11th year, the Mercedes-Benz Classic Car Rally (MBCCR) is ready to captivate car enthusiasts and collectors on November 24, 2024. First launched in 2014 by Autocar India with Mercedes-Benz, this event has evolved into a key celebration of automotive history, paying tribute to vintage and classic Mercedes-Benz cars that have left their mark on Indian and global roads.

Over the years, MBCCR has blossomed from a car rally into a cherished tradition, gathering enthusiasts who hold a deep passion for Mercedes-Benz classics. This year, the rally is set to be more impressive than ever, featuring an extensive lineup of over 60 cars. From the timeless E-Class to the iconic S-Class and SL-Class, MBCCR is where nostalgia meets the future of classic car culture.

The MBCCR Legacy: Celebrating Automotive Art

MBCCR’s mission is more than just bringing cars together; it’s about reviving and sustaining interest in Mercedes-Benz’s rich heritage. Since its early days, the rally has attracted a community of collectors, restorers, and young enthusiasts who are gradually stepping into the world of vintage cars. The event has played a central role in establishing a network of collectors dedicated to preserving these vehicles, both in their pristine state and as restored beauties.

Some standout cars that have graced previous rallies include a dazzling array of unique Mercedes models. Among them are publisher Viveck Goenka’s impressive S-Class collection, Pratapsinh Gaekwad’s rare 230SL Pagoda, Gautam Singhania’s elegant 300S Adenauer Cabriolet, Yashvardhan Ruia’s historic 1929 Nurburg, and a show-stopping 300SL belonging to HH Yuvraj Himanshu of Gondal. These cars, along with many others, symbolize MBCCR’s commitment to showcasing vehicles with both historical and emotional significance.

What’s New at MBCCR 2024: Fresh Classes and Diverse Cars

This year’s event promises new additions, including several classes that introduce a fresh take on vintage Mercedes-Benz models. Traditional classes like the E-Class, S-Class, and SL-Class remain a staple, but exciting new classes will broaden the showcase.

The Bruno Sacco Class, for instance, is a tribute to the legendary Italian designer Bruno Sacco, who crafted some of the most iconic Mercedes-Benz models. Then there’s the Supercharged Class, celebrating Mercedes-Benz’s early Kompressor series from the 1930s. This category will feature classic cars like the 500K, 540K, and 630K, all known for their distinctive supercharged engines.

Additionally, the Superlimousine Class will display grand Mercedes-Benz models, including the Nurburg, 600 Grosser, and various versions of the 300 Adenauer series. These luxurious, spacious cars were crafted with grandeur in mind and are revered for their iconic status. Meanwhile, the 40 Years of the 124 Series Class will celebrate the iconic W124 model, a vehicle that signaled Mercedes-Benz’s entry into India and marked a pivotal era in global automotive design.

To further add excitement, the Mile Muncher Class highlights vehicles that travel significant distances to participate in MBCCR. Cars from cities such as Goa, Lucknow, Kochi, and Rajkot will hit the road, underscoring their owners’ dedication and the rally’s magnetic pull. An additional Tribute to Motorsport Class will honor motorsport history, featuring cars that serve as a nod to the thrill of racing.

Taking MBCCR on Tour: The Mercedes-Benz Classic Car Showcase

This year, MBCCR will expand its reach beyond Mumbai, creating an even wider fan base. The Mercedes-Benz Classic Car Showcase is a new traveling exhibit that will bring these vintage masterpieces to cities like Chennai, Kochi, and Goa. These cities will host events where the locals can enjoy a close look at some of Mercedes-Benz’s finest historical models, merging the past with the present.

At each of these stops, participants will be ceremonially flagged off, marking their departure to Mumbai for the main event. This initiative not only extends MBCCR’s visibility but also allows enthusiasts across India to share in the passion for classic Mercedes-Benz vehicles. By bringing this showcase on the road, MBCCR offers car lovers the chance to witness these extraordinary cars in person, fostering a greater appreciation for their timeless appeal.
