Tata Motors displayed the Tata Punch Flex Fuel at Auto Expo 2025 as part of their mission to bring flex-fuel technology to their product range. The variant represents the beginnings of a lineup with E100 ethanol capability—India's efforts to find greener fuel choices and reduce emissions guide this development.
Engine and Performance
Using the same 1.2-litre three-cylinder natural aspiration, Punch motor that produces 86 bhp and 115 Nm torque, the Flex Fuel Punch delivers its power. With changes to its ECU and fuel injection system, the standard engine now delivers improved performance while working with ethanol blends.
Features and Specifications
Powertrain Options: The Punch Flex Fuel can operate on petrol, E85 (85% ethanol), and E100 (100% ethanol).
Transmission: It is expected to offer a choice between a 5-speed manual and an automated manual transmission (AMT).
Interior: The vehicle retains the same interior features as the standard model, including a 10.25-inch touchscreen and modern amenities.
Regulatory Context
The Indian government started adding E20 fuel to markets in 2023 and aims to have nationwide distribution across the country by 2025. As part of its BS7 preparation Tata Motors prepares to use E85 when the market accepts this fuel blend.
