Tata Punch Facelift, Variant Updates, and Upcoming Launches: India Car News Weekly Round-Up

The revamped Tata Punch made headlines with its updated design, additional features, and increased powertrain options, making it a busy and exciting week for the Indian auto industry. Concurrently, a number of well-liked models underwent variant rearranging with the goal of enhancing accessibility and value. While mainstream manufacturers subtly changed engine options, luxury brands unveiled limited editions. The week demonstrated how swiftly the Indian auto market is changing, with new SUVs being hinted at, launch dates confirmed, and new reservations opened.

  • The introduction of the redesigned Tata Punch with updated features, design, and powertrain options is one of the highlights.

  • Major companies also released updated versions of their SUVs during the week.

The Tata Punch Facelift Takes Center Stage

The introduction of the brand-new 2026 Tata Punch makeover was the greatest story in the Indian auto industry last week. With a redesigned exterior, improved interior, and more powertrain options, this new version of Tata Motors' well-known micro-SUV enters the market as a more formidable rival in its class.

With revised front and rear bumpers, LED lighting, and new colour options, the facelift boasts a striking new look influenced by Tata's contemporary design aesthetic. Improved tech features and a bigger touchscreen within the cabin give drivers a more upscale experience.

In order to appeal to a diverse spectrum of consumers, the Punch line now comes in a number of variations, ranging from base to higher-end trims. To increase its appeal, it also provides new turbo-petrol and naturally aspirated engines in addition to CNG alternatives.

Dealerships around the country are now accepting reservations and deliveries, and pricing is starting to be competitive.

Kia updates the Carens Clavis and Syros models

It was more than just Tata's actions. To maintain their lineups competitive and new, a number of other manufacturers made adjustments.

In response to customer feedback, Kia updated the lineups of its Carens Clavis and Syros models, adding an EX variant that aims to provide popular features at more affordable pricing points.

Limited editions of Maybach GLS and EQS: Mercedes-Benz

Mercedes-Benz, a luxury automaker, announced limited editions of its Maybach GLS and EQS SUV, adding premium features and visual adjustments for customers looking for exclusivity.

In the meantime, aficionados have taken notice of Volkswagen's unexpectedly quiet decision to remove a well-liked engine-transmission combo from its Taigun and Virtus lines.

Exciting dates and teasers for launches

On February 1, 2026, the full-size MG Majestor will be revealed, moving it up the brand's Indian SUV hierarchy above the Gloster.

In the same vein, Skoda hinted at an official debut later in January 2026 for the redesigned Kushaq, keeping the mid-size SUV market vibrant with intriguing new options.

Arrivals and bookings at the dealership started

Both the second-generation Kia Seltos and the redesigned Tata Punch have started to show up at dealerships throughout India after their premieres.

The top version of the Punch was seen in showrooms, indicating the new lineup's early momentum. Delivery of the Tata Sierra has already begun, and reservations have opened for vehicles such as the Mahindra XUV 7XO, XEV 9S, and BE 6 Formula E edition.
