Tata Altroz Facelift Achieves 5-Star BNCAP Crash Test Rating

A major safety milestone for Tata’s premium hatchback, the Altroz facelift not only delivers refreshed styling and powertrain options but also demonstrates its strength in crash tests, achieving excellent adult and child occupant protection scores.

Tata Altroz Facelift Gets 5-Star BNCAP Safety Rating

Tata Altroz facelift has received a five-star rating in Bharat New Car Assessment Program (BNCAP), making it a strong brand when it comes to safety among hatchbacks on the Indian road.

The Altroz was tested by the stringent safety standards, scoring 26.65/32 on Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and 44.90/49 on Child Occupant Protection (COP). These impressive figures depict the constant emphasis of Tata cars on the issue of safety in its product line.

Crash Test Performance

The hatchback had sufficient protection for the head, neck, chest, and lower body of occupants in the frontal offset deformable barrier test. The protection of the legs was considered adequate.

In the side movable deformable barrier test, the Altroz had good overall protection, though the chest protection was indicated as marginal. When the hatchback was subjected to the side pole impact test, it performed well in important parameters, which highlight its structural stability.

Standard Safety Features

Tata has given the facelifted Altroz a long list of safety features as standard across all trims. This comes with six airbags, child seat mounting points, pre-tensioners to the seat belts, an airbag cut-off switch and six airbags.

It is the first BNCAP rating of the Altroz, and the pre-facelift model had previously achieved a five-star rating in AOP but a three-star rating in COP with Global NCAP.

Facelift and Updates

The facelift, introduced in May 2025, is the biggest change since the Altroz's launch in 2019. The car has now been revised in terms of exterior design, updated cabin features, and technology, and is still available with its usual powertrain in terms of petrol, diesel, and CNG. Such updates, along with the newest safety recognition, make the Altroz facelift a more powerful competitor in the premium hatchback car in India.
